Ubisoft Achieves Double-Digit Q3 Growth Driven by Strong Performance of Assassin’s Creed Franchise

Ubisoft’s Third-Quarter Financial Performance for FY 2025

Ubisoft recently shared its third-quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2025, marking the closing three months leading up to December 31, 2025. It’s crucial to note that these results do not encompass the layoffs and organizational restructuring that took place at the beginning of the year, when the company initiated what they termed a “major reset.”

Organizational Changes Amid Financial Growth

Despite the significant overhaul within its workforce—with hundreds of positions eliminated in multiple global offices and the Paris headquarters—Ubisoft’s financial health appeared robust during this quarter. The company reported a remarkable 12% rise in net bookings, totaling €338 million, compared to the same quarter of the prior fiscal year. This growth occurred while implementing a strategy that includes a comprehensive company reorganization.

Driving Forces Behind Financial Success

Key factors contributing to this financial upturn included the “overperformance”of the Assassin’s Creed series, alongside titles such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and The Division. Notably, Ubisoft’s ambitious historical simulation game, Anno 117: Pax Romana, outshone its predecessor, Anno 1800, in terms of net bookings. However, the company’s prominent live-service game, Rainbow Six Siege, met expectations but did not surpass them, a situation attributed to a “particularly crowded”market for first-person shooters.

CEO Commentary and Future Direction

Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, emphasized the company’s solid performance during the quarter, stating, “We delivered a solid third-quarter performance, with net bookings growing at a double-digit rate year-on-year, exceeding our expectations.”He underscored the resilience of their portfolio and player engagement levels across core franchises, bolstered by recent releases and ongoing live content updates that resonate well with the gaming community.

Guillemot also noted ongoing efforts to fulfill the transformation plan initiated in January. There remains considerable work in filling key roles within this new structure, with the intent to onboard “external hires of experienced, respected industry veterans.”This approach raises questions about the talent lost during the restructuring process, as former employees seek opportunities elsewhere.

Looking Ahead

A noteworthy update mentioned in the report is the forthcoming announcement of the release date for The Division Resurgence, expected “soon.”However, the report did not provide any further details on the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake or remaster, nor on other upcoming projects within the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
