Apple Stores Close in UAE Due to Geopolitical Turmoil

The geopolitical landscape in the Middle East has reached a tumultuous peak, leading to growing concerns over regional stability. In the midst of this chaos, Apple Stores in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced their temporary closure, remaining shut at least until early next week.

Apple Stores to Remain Closed in the UAE Until At Least March 3

In light of recent developments, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has issued a directive urging private sector companies to implement measures that prevent employees from working in open spaces. This recommendation includes a shift toward remote work, which is currently set to remain in effect until Tuesday, March 3.

Consequently, Apple has decided to close its locations in the UAE, which includes three stores in Abu Dhabi and two in Dubai. Notably, the flagship Apple Store in Dubai Mall, situated near the renowned Burj Khalifa, has posted a sign indicating it is “closed until further notice.”

Furthermore, the situation escalated when a fire broke out at Dubai’s Jebel Ali port due to debris from an aerial interception. As a result, operations at the port have been suspended, and there are substantial disruptions to global shipping activities via the crucial Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing tensions.

This sudden geopolitical upheaval poses a significant challenge for Apple, especially as it prepares for the launch of new products, including the widely anticipated low-cost MacBook. The company’s product rollout is scheduled from March 1 through March 3, culminating in a hands-on ‘Apple Experience’ event on March 4.
