To embark on this quest, ensure that you have successfully completed Main Quest 14: Speak with the Devil. Foreman Vlach can be found in the mining area located in the southwestern section of Kuttenburg outside its walls; however, he is busy during his work hours.
The most effective way to encounter him is to wait at the Black Horse Tavern between 18:00 and 24:00. Once you share the tavern space with him, he will invite you to discuss an important matter regarding a stolen standard, which he suspects his rivals have taken.
Your objective soon becomes clear: you must retrieve the stolen item from their underground hideout, which presents its own set of legal challenges.
Navigating to Saints’ Den
The safest approach to infiltrating your rivals’ den is by locating the Kuttenberg Underground entrance just south of the city walls by the riverbank. This will lead you into the network of tunnels beneath Kuttenburg.
If you have proficient lock-picking skills, you can attempt to break into various shops, but be wary that the high-level locks make this a risky endeavor. Once you feel prepared, enter the tunnel and follow the right fork at the first intersection.
Here, Henry observes a notable site called Wasteyard, and you can continue on your path toward the mission objective. In these tunnels, feel free to loot the various items you encounter, as they are abandoned.
Upon reaching a ladder, ascend and take a right, leading you to a locked door. Here, you can apply your lock-picking skills to gain access to the Saints’ den.
Interaction with Joerg Preng
Although this area is designated as private, your quest allows you to enter and speak with Joerg Preng. Upon engaging with him, you will be presented with several dialogue options, including two which require passing skill checks, challenging him to a dice game, or initiating a fistfight.
Regardless of the option you select, Joerg is inclined to share the information you seek. For those fond of playing dice, this can be an entertaining way to progress the quest.
Ultimately, Joerg reveals that he no longer possesses the standard that Foreman Vlach is eager to retrieve.
The Search for Hensel
Return through the tunnel, or select one of several exits to make your way south of Kuttenburg toward the highlighted objective area on your map.
At the crossroads to the west, you’ll discover a blood-saturated sack, which updates your quest log. Pay attention to the clues that surround you to proceed.
Head south to find cart tracks and a nearby abandoned cart. Investigating the area reveals a trail of blood leading you to a site where wolves are feasting on a body.
If you’re pursuing the Lent trophy/achievement, consider using punches to fend off the wolves, rather than weapons. After dealing with the wolves, approach the deceased body to confirm it’s Hensel, the merchant you’ve been tracking, although, regrettably, he will not provide any information.
Locating the Lost Standard
This plot twist sends you deeper on your quest toward the milling area of Danemark. There, you’ll encounter a hostile group of bandits stationed around a fire. Prepare to confront them all at once.
However, take comfort in the knowledge that these foes are likely a manageable challenge for you at this stage.
Don’t miss a vital opportunity to commence an additional quest known as Tragedy in Danemark, which can only be activated before leaving the area and will become inaccessible thereafter.
Once the bandits are defeated, head to the southern building’s lower entrance.Inside, on the right side, you’ll find a chest containing the stolen standard. Loot the chest to recover the St. Anthony’s Standard.
Upon returning to Vlach, you can humorously choose to lie and keep the standard for personal use, as it serves as a pole-arm weapon. However, it’s advisable to return the standard to complete the quest adequately.
Upon successful completion of the Yackers ‘n’ Fash quest, you will receive 250 Groschen, Thievery XP, Scholarship XP, and Craftsmanship XP as your reward.
