‘Kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was’: Jennifer Garner pays tribute to father William Garner after his death at 85
The passing of her father, William John Garner, at the age of 85 was announced by Jennifer Garner, the well-known actress from Alias. On Instagram, she shared several pictures of her and her father and wrote in the caption:
“I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind.”
The actress also posted a video of her and her father in a Capital One credit card commercial, along with some family photos. In the caption, she spoke about her father’s calm passing on a Saturday afternoon (March 30, 2024), surrounded by loved ones and the beautiful sounds of Amazing Grace.
Jennifer Garner shares emotional tribute to her late father
Jennifer Garner recounted her father William John Garner’s last moments as:
“We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question.)”
Despite the certainty of experiencing grief after the loss, Garner expressed her appreciation for her father and emphasized that he lived a “healthy, fulfilling life,”free from hardship.
The actress also expressed her gratitude to the medical teams at Charleston Area Medical Center and City of Hope for their unwavering care, emphasizing the solace they provided to her father during his last days.
In her caption, Jennifer Garner also praised her father’s ability to balance the many roles he played within their family, highlighting his patience in managing his various responsibilities. She then added:
“We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership, and faith.”
The actress from 13 Going on 30 also emphasized the significant influence her father had on her and her siblings. She assured that his kind nature and actions would always be a subject of discussion among them.
In January of 2024, Jennifer posted on Instagram to commemorate her parents’ 59th wedding anniversary. She wrote:
“Happy 59th anniversary to my incredibly sweet and loving parents”
Jennifer also used the post to express her appreciation for the “safe and content”upbringing her parents gave her and her siblings.
Jennifer is a recipient of the prestigious Golden Globe Award and has been recognized for her outstanding performances in films such as Juno (2007), Dallas Buyers Club (2013), and Catch Me If You Can (2022). Her most recent appearance was in the 2023 comedy film Family Switch.
