Kade Ruotolo praises Francisco Lo for his sneaky submissions: “Things you don’t really see coming”

Kade Ruotolo, who holds the title of ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, is highly skilled in concealing his submission attempts.

Indeed, the element of surprise remains a powerful weapon in ‘The Gentle Art’. Only a select few have truly mastered the art of sneaky set-ups, and Ruotolo is confident that his opponent is also skilled in the subtle art of submissions.

This Friday, at ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas, Ruotolo will make his comeback in a non-title match against Francisco Lo at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The bout will take place at a catchweight of 180 pounds.

Prior to their 10-minute battle of endurance, the 21-year-old prodigy had only positive words for the talented ONE debutant.

Lo has already established a reputation for himself in the BJJ scene, especially for his unpredictable submissions from various angles. Many experts even compare his clever techniques to those of Kade Ruotolo.

During an interview with ONE, the Atos standout acknowledged that he will need to be cautious of Lo’s unpredictable fighting style when they face each other on April 5th.

“It seems like all his main attacks, his main submissions, are kind of things he pulls out of his back pocket. Things you don’t really see coming.”

Take note of how Lo expertly executed this brutal triangle choke, incorporating a clever jumping variation.

ONE Fight Night 21 will be broadcasted live during US primetime and will be available for free to Prime Video subscribers in both the United States and Canada.

“I think I’m going to be able to out-grind him, you know, get him on his back, and put him in uncomfortable positions.”
