Insomniac Confirms Marvel’s Wolverine Won’t Be Featured at February State of Play, More Details Coming This Spring

Anticipation Surrounds Tomorrow’s State of Play

As excitement builds for the upcoming State of Play event, speculation is rife about which games will be showcased. Among the most anticipated titles is Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games. However, recent hints from the studio suggest that this title may not be included in the presentation.

In a response to a fan inquiry on X, the developers indicated that more information regarding Marvel’s Wolverine will be shared in Spring. Notably, we have yet to reach the Spring season, which raises questions about whether any new gameplay footage or trailers will be presented during the event. It appears more plausible that the studio will reserve all major updates for a focused announcement at a later date. Speculations suggest that a dedicated showcase could occur in April or May, especially considering the success of the Marvel’s Spider-Man series for Sony.

Release Timelines and Game Showcases

The timing of Marvel’s Wolverine’s release, projected for Fall, aligns with another title from Sony-owned Housemarque: Saros. Scheduled to debut on April 30, Saros was initially set for March 20 but faced a slight delay. Given its imminent release, it stands to reason that Saros may dominate the State of Play presentation.

However, Saros might not be the only highlight from PlayStation Studios. Insider Shinobi602 has suggested that Sony Santa Monica could be primed to unveil a highly awaited project led byCory Barlog. After the acclaim of the 2018 God of War reboot, Barlog transitioned to the role of Creative Director for the sequel, God of War Ragnarök, which was directed by Eric Williams. Although specific details about Barlog’s new project remain scarce, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier noted that the project was progressing well as of July 2025 and is expected to convey a sense of novelty, despite not being a completely new intellectual property.

As we await tomorrow’s presentation, the gaming community is left to ponder which announcements will make the biggest impact. With significant developments on the horizon, both Marvel’s Wolverine and the potential reveal from Sony Santa Monica have fans buzzing with excitement.
