“If glazing was a person”: NBA fans roast Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Thunder’s postgame antics

Despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the OKC Thunder’s win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night, some NBA fans still took shots at them. However, their victory also secured them a spot in the playoffs, making them one of the first two West teams, along with the Denver Nuggets, to do so.

Although SGA only contributed 19 points, two rebounds and three assists, it was Jalen Williams and Josh Giddey who stood out at Madison Square Garden. Williams put on an impressive performance with 33 points, four rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks, while Giddey recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists.

Despite Jalen Brunson’s attempt at the buzzer, Gilgeous-Alexander had the final word as he sunk a game-winning fadeaway jumper with 1.8 seconds remaining. Additionally, he was able to defend Brunson’s shot to secure the win.

After the game, Jalen Williams was interviewed by SGA and couldn’t contain his admiration for what his teammate had accomplished. Cameras captured Williams’ reaction and the footage was later shared on the NBA’s official X account.

Despite Williams’ reaction, it received a lukewarm response from fans, with one even referring to it as “glazing,”the current slang term for excessive flattery or sycophancy.

The following was written by the fan:

“If glazing was a person.”

Another critic also targeted the Thunder, equating it to Drake “checking out”women.

“This like Drake with whoever’s hot at the time.”

This fan believed that Jalen Williams should not engage in this type of behavior, especially considering his superior performance compared to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

“He had a better game than Shai too but the first thing he wanna do after the game is get on his knees lmao.”

Below are additional responses to J-Dub’s “glazing”at SGA:

OKC Thunder clinch playoffs with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s game-winning shot

SGA added another game-winner to his highlight reel.
SGA added another game-winner to his highlight reel.

Despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander not performing at his peak, Jalen Williams had an exceptional night and Josh Giddey recorded one of the most impressive triple-doubles of the season against the New York Knicks on Sunday.

Despite Jalen Brunson giving the Knicks the lead with less than five seconds left in the game, the OKC Thunder still relied on their top player. SGA came through, sinking the game-winning shot over Miles McBride with 1.8 seconds left.

The Thunder’s 113-112 victory secured them a spot in the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season. They became one of only three teams, along with the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets, to officially qualify for the postseason. Currently, the Thunder hold the top spot in the Western Conference with a record of 52-22 and are 0.5 games ahead of the reigning champions.
