How did Cody Rhodes react to his WrestleMania 39 loss behind closed doors?

Cody Rhodes secured his spot in the main event of WrestleMania 40 by winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble and will once again challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, repeating his feat from the previous year.

The previous year, the 38-year-old was unable to complete his story after being defeated by The Tribal Chief at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. As Reigns proudly raised his title on the ramp with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman, Cody Rhodes gazed towards the apron. The two-time Royal Rumble winner recently shared his thoughts and emotions following his heartbreaking loss at WrestleMania 39.

During his appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, he discussed the long journey he took back to his bus after the lights went out at SoFi Stadium.

“I mean I joke that it was a long walk. The reason I say that is cos it was long in duration but also the feeling of walking by a lot of the building workers saying ‘Great job!’ ‘Get ’em next time,’ just kind of these random things as I’m passing people by.”

As Rhodes made his way back to his bus, his wife Brandi joined him, but they remained silent. He went on to reveal a conversation he had with WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page, which provided some insight into coping with the loss.

“I walked with Brandi and we didn’t have any words between each other but when I got to my bus I had a nice moment with DDP (Diamond Dallas Page) because he hated it but also we just main evented a WrestleMania but also we’re not the type to be happy with just main eventing a WrestleMania.”[12:50-13:34]

Rhodes’ journey to the main event has been astounding since his return at WrestleMania 38. The former AEW Executive Vice President has transformed into a superstar for the Stamford-based company.
