In Helldivers 2, explosions define the gameplay experience. The introduction of the Servants of Freedom Warbond brings with it two formidable options for wreaking havoc: the GP-31 Ultimatum, a compact nuke launcher, and the B-100 Portable Hellbomb, a devastating backpack weapon designed to eradicate everything within a vast radius.
While the Ultimatum serves as a straightforward option to eliminate targets quickly, the Portable Hellbomb requires more careful handling. Its activation and deployment process is more intricate, with the potential for catastrophic friendly fire if not managed correctly.
Unlocking the Portable Hellbomb in Helldivers 2

To acquire the B-100 Portable Hellbomb, players must purchase it via the Servants of Freedom Warbond, found on the third page for 110 Medals. Keep in mind, additional Medals are needed to advance through the first two pages to access this pivotal stratagem. Although this may seem like a considerable investment, the explosive power of the B-100 Portable Hellbomb makes it a valuable addition for any player wishing to transform battlefields into wastelands filled with craters and fallen foes.
Using and Activating the B-100 Portal Hellbomb in Helldivers 2

Although carrying a Portable Hellbomb might seem perilous, rest assured it must be activated manually, ensuring that neither enemy nor ally fire can trigger it unintentionally.
To deploy the Portable Hellbomb, press 5 on PC or D-Pad Down on PlayStation 5. This action initiates a 10-second countdown. Quickly select the backpack slot by holding X or D-Pad Down and drop the bomb before making your escape.
Remember, once activated, the B-100 Portable Hellbomb cannot be disarmed. The game promotes the need for massive explosions, and reversing that decision would undermine the premise of freedom. Therefore, effective communication with your team is essential before dropping the bomb.
The blast from the Portable Hellbomb mirrors that of the standard Hellbomb, used to devastate structures such as Research Stations and Rogue Research Labs during unique missions. It inflicts the same level of destruction within an identical radius, powerful enough to eliminate all in its vicinity. Experienced players will likely be familiar with its significant explosive range, and it’s advisable to sprint as far away as possible after deployment.
Unlike the standard Hellbomb, which has a single-use limitation, the B-100 Portable Hellbomb can be summoned repeatedly. With all cooldown-reducing upgrades unlocked, players can call in a new Hellbomb roughly every 4 minutes.
In the name of implementing managed democracy, sacrificing oneself can be justified. One of the most effective tactics with the Portable Hellbomb is to infiltrate deep into fortified areas — heavy outposts, nests, or command encampments — before countdown initiation.
This kamikaze strategy may result in your demise, but destroying a Command Bunker and a group of heavily armored foes with one bomb is a significant achievement. This is especially true when facing level 9 (helldive) or 10 (super helldive) difficulties, where such strategic plays can substantially alter the tide of battle.
