In contrast to other materials available in Hytale, Rubies and Sapphires are significantly harder to obtain. To discover these precious gems, players must delve into dangerous underground biomes, which present their own challenges and require a mix of strategy and luck. Multiple expeditions may be necessary before successfully acquiring these elusive gems.

Identifying Ruby & Sapphire Locations in Hytale

Players typically find Rubies and Sapphires nestled within volcanoes located on volcanic islands. Entering through the mouth of a volcano may lead to discovering a shrine constructed from golden blocks. During our exploration, we encountered both a Ruby and Sapphire positioned atop one of these ornate structures. Additionally, it’s possible to find nearby chests that may also yield more gemstones.

Accessing a volcano can be made easier by utilizing a water bucket to create a water elevator, while the tunnels that encircle the volcano often lead right to the main caves housing these golden temples. However, be cautious as the volcanic islands in Zone 4 are populated with formidable foes. Equipping at least Cobalt-tier gear is advisable for those anticipating significant combat.

At present, the primary use of Rubies and Sapphires revolves around crafting magical gear at an Arcanist’s Workbench, which requires Thorium Ingots for construction. The crafted items include Staves—ranged weapons that leverage Essences to unleash magical attacks. Rubies are integral in creating Fire Staves, while Sapphires correspond to Ice Staves.

In addition to gems, crafting a staff necessitates Silver and/or Gold, both of which can be found within Zone 4. Occasionally, these metals might also be looted from chests scattered throughout other regions, making it advantageous to search for these valuable resources during your quest.

While Staves provide unique magical capabilities, they are relatively weaker when compared to other weapon options in Hytale. Moreover, gathering the required ammunition can prove to be a substantial effort, so players should weigh their options carefully.
