Google Vids Expands Access to AI Features for All Users
In an exciting development for content creators, Google has announced that several AI-powered features within its video creation app, Google Vids, will now be available for free to all Google account holders. Previously, these functionalities were exclusive to paying subscribers, enhancing the platform’s accessibility.
Launched over a year ago, Google Vids serves as a versatile tool designed specifically for Workspace users, enabling quick production of business-related, training, or promotional videos. A free version of this service was introduced for general Google account users in August of this year, further broadening its reach.
Latest Features and Enhancements
Since its initial launch, Google Vids has undergone multiple upgrades, with new capabilities introduced as recently as 2024. Users can now create custom video clips accompanied by sound, easily swap backgrounds using simple text prompts, transform images into videos, and explore various output formats.

The most recent updates allow free users to benefit from AI-generated voiceovers, seamlessly eliminate silences and filler words through transcript trimming, and enhance images using AI editing tools. Google emphasizes that its Gemini feature helps users craft videos for a plethora of occasions, from vacation highlights to promotional content for entrepreneurial endeavors.
Travel-Centric AI Developments and Video Generation Model
In addition to the enhancements within Google Vids, the search giant has rolled out several travel-oriented features for Google Search and Google Flights, catering to users’ growing demand for comprehensive travel planning tools.
Furthermore, Google Vids now supports its cutting-edge video generation model, Veo 3.1, through an under-the-hood update. This advanced model enables users to create videos from ingredient images, including products, characters, and logos.

By leveraging up to three images along with relevant prompts, users can generate cohesive stories. Google asserts that with Veo 3.1, clips are produced with consistent elements, reinforcing the narrative. This feature is currently being rolled out to paid Workspace users of varying tiers, as well as subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.
