Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets Game Player Stats and Box Scores for April 4, 2024

The highly anticipated game between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets took place at Toyota Center on Thursday. The Warriors, ranked 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 41-34, faced off against the 11th ranked Rockets, who held a 38-37 record. The outcome of the game would determine the Rockets’ chances of making it to the postseason, with a win keeping them in contention and a loss greatly diminishing their chances of qualifying for the play-in tournament.

The Warriors came out strong, dominating the game with a 13-4 run before the first timeout. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry maintained the team’s impressive shooting streak against the Rockets this season, sinking three triples. In contrast, the Rockets struggled and only managed to make two of their seven shots.

The Warriors extended their lead to 25-11, but the Rockets responded with an 11-3 run, bringing the score to 25-20 and making it a close five-point game. The Rockets’ defensive pressure intensified, causing the Warriors to commit eight turnovers in the first quarter. Despite this, Golden State managed to regain an 11-point lead (33-24) before the end of the first quarter.

The Rockets’ performance in the second quarter significantly improved as Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr.’s accurate shooting provided a boost. The team’s renewed offense, fueled by their successful 3-pointers, posed challenges for the Warriors.

Despite this, Klay Thompson’s impressive performance in the first half carried on and allowed the Warriors to hold their largest lead of the game at halftime, with a score of 65-50. By the end of the opening 24 minutes, Thompson had already scored 21 points, while Jabari Smith Jr. led the Rockets with 14 points.
