Goldberg provides big return update days before WrestleMania

Just days before WrestleMania 40, Goldberg has given a significant update on his return.

The famous wrestler has been absent for quite some time. His final match was against Roman Reigns in the beginning of 2022. Despite putting up a good fight, the Hall of Famer was defeated by Reigns through technical submission, and his contract with WWE expired. As of now, he has not returned to the wrestling ring.

Goldberg recently appeared on the Drinkin’ Bros Studios podcast to discuss his current endeavors. When asked about a potential return to wrestling, the WWE veteran clarified that he has not officially retired because, as he put it, one must be deceased in order to retire from the sport.

Despite being asked multiple times, it seemed difficult for him to stop what he was doing with his family.

“When you’re a professional wrestler by trade, you never retire until you’re dead. I’ve been asked a couple of times but it’s hard to break me away from… I’ve been hanging on the sidelines for four years with my son. My wife and I moved here for the sole reason of watching my son grow up in unbelievable surroundings, and it’s been fabulous.”(20:07 – 20:31)

The inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame relocated to Boerne, Texas in 2019 with his family. It seems that he has found contentment in his new home, as he discussed his son’s upcoming college football career and expressed his desire to be there to cheer him on.

The star was insistent that he would only pursue a career in Hollywood if it allowed him to prioritize his son. Despite receiving multiple offers, he was determined to shape his career in a way that revolved around his child.

Goldberg’s Controversial Remarks About Asuka Spark Backlash

Despite not having wrestled since his bout with Roman Reigns, Goldberg made it clear that he had strong opinions about how he was treated by the company.

His tone was filled with bitterness when discussing Asuka, indicating that he was not pleased with her for ending his streak.

“That happened after I got there. A girl beat my undefeated streak. I can’t even remember. Ah-soo-ka [Asuka] is her name. Some Japanese girl. They touted her as being the one to have the longest winning streak. It just so happened that it culminated when I got there. Then, it just so happened that every single wrestler uses the spear in their moves. Pretty ironic that happened when I got there.”

There is no indication that Goldberg will make a comeback to the ring in the near future.
