Former Universal Champion returning to WWE at WrestleMania to cost Roman Reigns his title shouldn’t happen, says legend

Despite holding the WWE Universal Championship for more than 1300 days, Roman Reigns may face a threat to his record-breaking reign if his past resurfaces.

Despite being one of the top names in the industry, Brock Lesnar will not be appearing at this year’s WrestleMania XL. His actions have caused tension with management after Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon.

Prior to the lawsuit being made public, there were rumors that Lesnar would begin a highly anticipated program with Intercontinental Champion Gunther on the Road to WrestleMania XL. However, following the lawsuit, WWE removed him from their creative plans and attempted to erase him from their history.

Matt Morgan was questioned on his thoughts about Brock Lesnar making a comeback on Gigantic Pop to assist Cody Rhodes in completing his storyline.

The notion was firmly rejected by the TNA legend in a straightforward manner.

“Oh God, no!” he said. [34:30 – 34:35]

Roman Reigns reveals thoughts of retirement from WWE

During an interview with Uproxx, Paul Heyman disclosed that Roman Reigns had deemed himself retired amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

“I was Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, and Roman was assigned to SmackDown. But every week I heard all the SmackDown writers, producers and personnel saying, ‘God, I just wish Roman would come back!’ And I would ask, ‘Has anybody talked to him?’, ‘Yeah, he says he’s retired! He’s not coming back! No way! Thanks a lot! Done! Finished! Goodbye!’ So the fact that he came back for this run, for what we have accomplished, is nothing short of a miracle because as far as he was concerned, he was out!” revealed Heyman.

Later that year, the Tribal Chief made his highly-anticipated return at SummerSlam and began what would become the most successful run of his WWE career. Currently, Roman Reigns is gearing up to defend his undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at The Showcase of the Immortals this weekend.
