F1 25 Introduces Path Tracing Support (PC Only) and Enhanced Facial Animations Using NVIDIA Audio2Face

F1 25 Set to Feature Path Tracing Exclusively on PC

Codemasters has officially revealed that the upcoming F1 25 game will integrate path tracing technology, marking its entry into a prestigious league of titles that includes hits like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Portal with RTX. Notably, this cutting-edge feature will be exclusive to PC users.

Enhanced Realism with Path Tracing

According to the developer, this feature, dubbed “Ultra Max” in the graphics settings, significantly elevates the realism of light simulation in the game. Light behaves as it would in the real world, with every bounce traced, encompassing indirect lighting and multiple reflections. Players will experience dynamic shifts in shade, light, and color, especially in vivid environments like the illuminated circuits of Bahrain or the sunset-drenched castle section in Baku.

For those with the right hardware, path tracing promises an unparalleled level of realism, enhancing the immersive experience of racing.

Comprehensive Visual and Technical Upgrades

F1 25 is set to deliver more than just path tracing. Players can expect noteworthy improvements in tonemapping and light balance, which will enhance gameplay across various weather scenarios, providing a more dramatic representation of atmospheric changes. The track surface shader has also been refined, resulting in clearer tire and lock-up marks, alongside physical adjustments based on real-world data analytics.

Innovative LIDAR Technology

The implementation of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) technology enhances track accuracy significantly. This advanced scanning method ensures that trees and foliage are depicted with greater authenticity, accurately reflecting their respective species, size, and placement in real life. Exciting new additions like cherry blossom trees at Suzuka will also enrich the visual landscape.

Next-Gen Features with NVIDIA Audio2Face

Additionally, Codemasters has integrated NVIDIA’s Audio2Face technology to elevate the facial animations within the game. This innovation, previously noted in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, ensures that players can expect more authentic interactions during career modes and the Braking Point feature. Reintroduced press interviews will now authentically capture driver responses, extending this realism to facility heads in the My Team mode.

Moreover, players using the PS5 Pro console will be treated to the option of split-screen racing at an impressive 60 frames per second.

Awaiting Further Details

While Codemasters has yet to disclose the specific system requirements for utilizing path tracing features on PC, the gaming community eagerly anticipates this information. F1 25 is scheduled for release on May 30, across both PC and gaming consoles.
