Exynos 2500 Rumored To Be Tested In Two Versions With Different Number Of CPU Cores, But Cluster Information Not Yet Revealed

According to a tipster, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series will be powered by both the Exynos 2500 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in various regions next year. However, it seems that the company is planning to have two different versions of its flagship SoC, with one having a higher core count than the other. There is also an unexpected twist in the works, which will be revealed in the following paragraphs.

On X, @OreXda has reported that Samsung is currently testing two versions of the Exynos 2500. One version features an 8-core CPU, while the other has a 10-core configuration. Although the tipster does not have information on the specific clusters, he previously mentioned that Samsung was testing the 10-core version with the Cortex-X5, which was operating at frequencies between 3.20GHz and 3.30GHz.

According to a post by @OreXda, it has been revealed that the 8-core variant is expected to power Samsung’s Galaxy S series of smartphones, while the more powerful variant may be utilized in the company’s Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Book line of products. It is rumored that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Book 4 Edge will be equipped with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, indicating the company’s interest in entering the notebook and tablet market with its own SoCs. To achieve this, the Exynos 2500 must prove to be a high-performing chipset, with one rumor suggesting it can outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both CPU and GPU tests.

It is difficult to determine the accuracy of this information, but Samsung’s decision to decrease its reliance on Qualcomm and focus on developing its own chipsets is a step in the right direction. However, it may take some time for the company to rebuild its reputation after the negative response from consumers regarding previous Exynos launches. According to a tipster’s initial post, Samsung may follow a similar approach to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 for the 8-core version of the Exynos 2500.

This suggests that the Exynos 2500 may adopt a ‘4 + 4’ configuration with only performance cores, resulting in significant improvements in multi-core performance over the Exynos 2400. However, this could potentially lead to lower power efficiency and higher temperatures during regular usage. While it has not been officially stated which manufacturing process Samsung will use for mass production of the Exynos 2500 to enhance its power profile, we can expect more information to be revealed before the release of the Galaxy S25 series.
