WATCH: Carlos Alcaraz’s latest practice session emerges as he gears up to kick off European claycourt season at Monte-Carlo Masters

Carlos Alcaraz is preparing for the European clay court season and highlights from his recent training session have been released in anticipation of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters.

Despite consistently reaching the latter stages of tournaments, Alcaraz had been facing difficulty in winning a title since his dominant victory at Wimbledon the previous year.

Despite his young age, the 20-year-old showed a strong performance at the BNP Paribas in Indian Wells, where he claimed victory over top players like Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev, successfully defending his title.

As the 2021 European clay-court season approaches, Alcaraz is shifting his attention towards defending 2265 points from the previous year and aiming to increase his total. A recent video shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed the Spaniard getting ready for the clay surface, which he has been playing on since childhood. He is now preparing to kick off his journey at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters.

At the Miami Open, Alcaraz, who was the top seed, reached the quarterfinals before being defeated by 11th seed and eventual runner-up Grigor Dimitrov in a 6-2, 6-4 match.

The player ranked as World No. 3 had a remarkable performance during the European clay-court season last year, emerging victorious in 16 out of 18 matches and earning two titles.

Despite withdrawing from the Monte-Carlo Masters, Alcaraz continued his winning streak by successfully defending his title at the Barcelona Open without losing a single set. He defeated Roberto Bautista Agut, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Dan Evans before ultimately defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

The Spaniard continued his streak of successful title defenses at the Madrid Open, defeating Emil Ruusuvuori, Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, Karen Khachanov, and Borna Coric en route to the final. In a close match, Alcaraz ultimately emerged victorious over Jan-Lennard Struff with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Despite a third-round loss to Fabian Marozsan at the Italian Open, the Spaniard secured the top seed position at the upcoming French Open. Alcaraz’s impressive victories over Flavio Cobolli, Taro Daniel, Denis Shapovalov, Lorenzo Musetti, and Stefanos Tsitsipas propelled him to the semifinals of the clay-court Major. However, he was ultimately defeated by eventual champion Novak Djokovic, with a final score of 3-6, 7-5, 1-6, 1-6.
