Epic Games Store Introduces Game Gifting Feature
After much anticipation, Epic Games has officially launched a long-requested feature on its PC game store: the ability to gift games. This new functionality allows users to seamlessly purchase and send games to friends directly from the store’s game pages.
In their announcement, Epic stated,
“Gifting is live on the Epic Games Store. Players can now purchase and send games directly to friends on their Epic friends list, making it easier to celebrate special occasions, share favorite titles, or just surprise a friend with a new game.”
How the Gifting Process Works
To gift a game, users simply need to select the ‘Gift’ option when viewing a game in the store. They can choose a friend from their Epic friends list and also schedule the delivery time for the gift.
Important Conditions to Note
Recipients must accept the gift for it to be added to their accounts. If a gift is not accepted within 14 days, or if the recipient already owns the game or declines the gift, Epic Games will issue a refund to the original purchaser. Additionally, it’s essential to note that cross-regional gifting is currently unavailable, although Epic is working on this feature.
This gifting feature is limited to the PC version of the Epic Games Store and is not available on the newly launched mobile version.

Rewards for Gifting
Those using Epic’s payment system will earn Epic Rewards with every purchase made for gifting. Notably, recipients can utilize their Epic Rewards balance to redeem gifts, which enhances the overall experience for players and encourages further engagement on the platform.
Eligible and Ineligible Items for Gifting
The gifting feature supports various forms of content, including:
- Paid games
- Special editions
- Downloadable content (DLC)
- Bundles
However, there are certain restrictions: free games, pre-purchased titles, subscriptions, and in-game currencies cannot be gifted.
A Long-Awaited Development
The concept of gifting initially emerged as a potential feature in 2019 when Epic Games included it in their development roadmap. Now, six years later, this eagerly awaited functionality has finally been made available to users.
