Drew Gulak breaks silence on damaging accusation from Ronda Rousey
Following the accusation made by former Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey on Tuesday, claiming that NXT Superstar Drew Gulak pulled her sweatpants’ drawstring backstage at a WWE event, Gulak has released an official statement on the matter today through social media.
Rousey claimed in an interview with NewsNation that, while standing backstage at a WWE event, a male superstar had grabbed the string of her sweatpants. She later identified the individual as Drew Gulak.
In a tweet, Gulak acknowledged that he unintentionally brushed against The Rowdy One’s drawstring while trying to greet her backstage in 2022. The NXT Superstar also shared that he apologized to Rousey for the incident.
“Backstage at a WWE event in 2022, I saw Ronda talking with a group in the hallway. I stopped to say hi and shake all their hands, and in an attempt to shake her hand, I accidentally touched her drawstring. Complete accident, and one that I had apologized to her for the mishap.”
According to Rosuey, she spoke to Gulak after the incident. The UFC Hall of Famer also expressed how the experience made her aware of the challenges that female talents encounter in the worldwide powerhouse.
Drew Gulak, who was once the NXT Cruiserweight Champion, currently serves as the leader of the No Quarter Catch Crew on the developmental brand. The group is comprised of Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp, and Myles Borne.
Corey Graves responds to Ronda Rousey’s criticism of the WWE
In addition to her shocking accusation against Drew Gulak, Ronda Rousey has also been vocal about her views on WWE in recent weeks. The former Women’s Champion released a memoir titled Our Fight, which delves into her time in WWE. She also made comments about past executives such as Vince McMahon.
“I take everything with a grain of salt. Listen, if you’re in this business for any duration, you get used to letting those sorts of things roll off your back. Everybody has a different experience in the WWE or in the wrestling business. Not everybody accomplishes what they set out to accomplish. Some people never expect to love it and fall madly in love with it.”[2:35 – 2:56]
During her five-year contract with WWE from 2018 to 2023, Ronda Rousey achieved great success, capturing multiple championships and winning the Royal Rumble Match.
