MediaTek has taken a significant lead over Qualcomm by unveiling its latest and most sophisticated smartphone chipset yet, the Dimensity 9500. Produced using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm ‘N3P’ architecture, this System on Chip (SoC) boasts remarkable enhancements in both performance and efficiency. Featuring ARM’s next-generation C1 cores, the Dimensity 9500 achieves competitive single-core and multi-core results that rival Apple’s A19 Pro. Significant Advancements Over the Dimensity 9400

The enhancements in the Dimensity 9500 compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400, are indeed staggering. MediaTek claims that the new chipset can achieve up to a 32% increase in single-threaded performance, all while reducing peak power consumption by an impressive 37%.

Continuing with the approach used in the Dimensity 9400, the Dimensity 9500 retains an all-performance core design without introducing a unique in-house architecture. Instead, it utilizes ARM’s latest C1 cores, maintaining the 8-core layout. This chipset is equipped with 16MB of L3 cache and 10MB of SLC cache. Additionally, the Dimensity 9500 supports ARM’s latest Scalable Matrix Extension (SME 2) instruction set, enhancing its processing capabilities. Below are its core specifications:

  • 1 x ARM C1-Ultra (2MB L2 cache) running at 4.21GHz
  • 3 x ARM C1-Premium (1MB L2 cache) running at 3.50GHz
  • 4 x ARM C1-Pro (512KB L2 cache) running at 2.70GHz

In benchmark tests, MediaTek reported that the Dimensity 9500 achieves a single-core score of 4, 007 and a multi-core score of 11, 217, making it up to 32% faster than the Dimensity 9400 in computational tasks. Notably, these scores are on par with those of Apple’s A19 Pro, which previously excelled in Geekbench 6 tests, especially in terms of performance per watt.

Turning to energy efficiency, the Dimensity 9500 demonstrates a considerable reduction in peak power draw, consuming 32% less than the Dimensity 9400. Moreover, it features an impressive app launch response time of just 50ms with a deviation of only 10ms, resulting in a smoother user experience.
