Simple Methods to Access Android Notifications on Windows

In today’s fast-paced digital environment, many individuals find themselves glued to their computers, often risking missed calls and text messages when their smartphones are out of reach. However, there’s no need to fret. By relaying your Android notifications directly to your Windows PC, you can remain connected without constantly checking your phone. This article outlines the simplest methods to achieve this integration.

Microsoft’s Phone Link application streamlines the process of viewing Android notifications on your Windows device. While it typically comes pre-installed on Windows 10 and 11, you can also download it from the Microsoft Store if it’s missing from your system.

To get started, install the Link to Windows app on your Android smartphone. Following this, connect both devices by signing in with the same Microsoft account. You have the option to pair them using either a QR code or a one-time passcode for manual pairing.

Once connected, open the Phone Link app on your PC and select the Open settings on mobile device button found on the left sidebar. A notification will be triggered on your Android device; tap on it to access the settings where you must grant permission for Link to Windows to access your notifications.

It’s important to note that, following the latest Android updates, notifications containing sensitive information, such as banking details, are no longer visible. Once set up, you can manage notifications on your PC effortlessly. Hover over a notification to click the X for removal or select Clear all to remove all at once; doing so will also delete them from your phone.

For more control, you can click on the three dots on a notification card to Pin or Mute notifications from specific applications. If you decide that you’d rather not see notifications at all, simply choose Go to settings from the notification card and disable notifications in the subsequent screen.

Additionally, a recent development allows users to access their phone notifications directly from the Start menu, showcasing the three most recent alerts without displaying their content.

2. Samsung Flow: Ideal for Samsung Users

If you’re a Samsung Galaxy user, Samsung Flow offers an excellent alternative to Phone Link. To embark on this integration, install the Samsung Flow app on both your smartphone and Windows computer.

Activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices, making sure they are connected to the same network. Then, launch Samsung Flow on your PC and select your phone from the device list (note that only Samsung Galaxy devices are supported in this setup).

You’ll need to confirm the passkey displayed on both your PC and mobile device to complete the pairing process. After establishing the connection, click on the Notifications icon (or bell) within Samsung Flow on your PC.

3. Third-Party Services: Expanding Your Options

For those looking for more options, consider using a third-party service like AirDroid Personal. This platform lets you view your notifications by installing AirDroid on both your Windows PC and Android device, then signing in with the same account on both.

Once setup is complete, navigate to the Security & Remote Features section in AirDroid for Android, enabling Desktop Notif to grant permission for viewing notifications.

To clear notifications, hover over them and click the X button. However, do note that deleting these notifications from AirDroid on your PC will not remove them from your phone.

While AirDroid Personal provides a cost-free solution for simply viewing notifications, it offers enhanced features like file transfer capabilities, SMS access, and remote control of your device. To explore all features, a subscription upgrade might be necessary. Additionally, we have tested larger-scale functionalities with AirDroid Business for advanced capabilities.

Explore other third-party alternatives like Pushbullet, which offers a convenient way of managing notifications through a Firefox extension for Windows PCs (the Chrome extension has been deprecated), or MightyText, which is easily accessible through Chrome and provides both desktop and web app versions.

4. A New Trick for Enhanced Workflow

Lastly, for Android users keen on optimizing workflow, Microsoft has introduced a new feature in the Release Preview Channel that allows seamless continuity between your Windows PC and linked Android device. Accessible for Windows Insiders, this feature will display relevant notifications on your computer that alert you to resume work in supported applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Spotify, Edge Browser, or OneDrive.
