Following your initial experience with the Zoomer in Fire Canyon, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy presents an alternate challenge in Precursor Basin. Though less perilous than its predecessor, this level poses a greater challenge, requiring players to navigate various difficult objectives while mastering the performance of the Zoomer vehicle.
Precursor Basin is teeming with driving tasks, ranging from achieving a record time in a racing course to maneuvering through rings and engaging in Green Eco gardening. For completionists aiming for every Trophy in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, proficiency with the Zoomer is essential to collect all items scattered throughout Precursor Basin.
Herd the Moles into their Hole
A good starting challenge involves herding blind moles found in the initial section of Precursor Basin. To accomplish this, approach the moles with the Zoomer to scare them back to their holes. Employ sharp turns and quick hops to stay close behind them. Once you’ve successfully guided four moles back home, return to the Geologist in Rock Village to claim your Power Cell. Don’t forget to explore and complete the remaining challenges in this area before moving on!
Catch the Flying Lurkers
Within the same vicinity as the moles, you will encounter Flying Lurkers that dart away as the Zoomer approaches. To succeed in this mission, pursue and collide with them as they adopt rather intricate routes through Precursor Basin. Focus on intercepting them at turns, especially in the areas depicted in the images above. The final Lurker you catch will reward you with another Power Cell.
Beat Record Time on the Gorge
A Gambler in Rock Village seeks your assistance to break the record time for the Gorge, set at an exhilarating 45 seconds. Located near the entrance to Precursor Basin, this racing track poses a tricky challenge.
Navigate the course by skillfully managing your speed and using the Lurkers to launch the Zoomer for higher jumps. Initially, thread through two pillars with Blue Eco in between for a vital speed boost. Following that, prepare for winding turns and avoid Dark Eco crates while weaving your way to the finish line. After successfully beating the time, return to the Gambler in Rock Village to collect your Power Cell.
Get the Power Cell Over the Lake
To acquire the Power Cell hovering above the lake, careful navigation and timing are essential. Start from the slope shown in the images and proceed around the hole. Utilize the narrow bridges and ramps to hop across gaps between islands. After reaching the designated location, make a 180-degree turn midway up the slope and then proceed to the final connection between the last two islands to secure the Power Cell.
Cure the Dark Eco Infected Plants
This task is a refreshing break from the previous challenges. Charge up with Green Eco and drive through the purple plants to restore them. It’s important to act promptly to prevent them from regenerating. Utilizing the Green Eco Vent allows you to maintain your eco supply while efficiently cleansing the area of Dark Eco-infested plants, rewarding you with a Power Cell upon completion.
Navigate the Purple Precursor Rings
Next up is the Purple Precursor Ring challenge. Each time you pass through a ring, additional rings will appear, requiring swift navigation before the timer expires. This challenge is easier compared to the subsequent ring challenge, so focus on mastering the tricky segments of the course.
A daunting moment occurs on the natural bridge when a ring appears in mid-air, requiring a decisive jump. Follow this with another leap to grab the next ring at ground level to complete this challenge.
Navigate the Blue Precursor Rings
Contrasting with the Purple Rings, the Blue Precursor Rings present a tougher challenge. Start near the slope leading to the Power Cell over the Lake but veer left and slightly downhill to discover the initial ring.
The most challenging part arises near a pillar where you must maneuver around it and hit three rings in succession. Some rings are positioned high in the air, making it necessary to gain altitude by bouncing off rocks while maintaining control to secure them.
Maintain focus while navigating back past the Zoomer Trans-pad and through the Precursor archway. Here, hop accurately to hit additional rings in the air before racing across the lake to capture more. Carefully choose your path to avoid conflicting routes as you grab the remaining rings, leading you to the final challenge where the last ring awaits at the top of a slope.
Completing this circuit successfully rewards you with a Power Cell, capping off your efforts to navigate the Blue Precursor Rings.
Free the 7 Scout Flies
Another task awaits as you must locate and free the seven Scout Flies in the Precursor Basin. Collecting all seven will grant you a Power Cell. The first Scout Fly is positioned near the Mole Hole, as illustrated in the corresponding image.
For the second Scout Fly Box, ascend the slope shown in the first image above. The third can be spotted across a narrow bridge near the location of the second box. Another Scout Fly Box can be uncovered on the upper right side of the raised area featuring a hole.
Locate the fifth Scout Fly Box situated below the fourth box by descending through the hole. The sixth can be found after hopping across the three islands previously traversed to retrieve the Power Cell over the Lake. Finally, the seventh Box lies adjacent to the first of the Blue Precursor Rings.
