Comprehensive Mime Locations in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

With over 15 Mime encounters throughout Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, many can easily be located during the main storyline. In fact, players can encounter their first Mime during the prologue. The others are dispersed in various hidden corners throughout the world, often in optional areas.
These Mimes are easily identifiable by their distinctive striped outfits and can be heard thanks to their exaggerated, distorted voices when players are nearby. Note that not all Mimes are aggressive; some will only become hostile upon spotting the player, while others prefer to stealthily hide until discovered. Stay alert for opportunities to land a First Strike bonus or to prepare for combat.
By defeating the Mime located in Lumiere during the prologue, players will unlock the ‘A Peculiar Encounter’ trophy/achievement, which marks a rewarding initiation into the game. Strategies for Reaching All Mimes in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Mime #1 Location – Lumiere (Prologue)

At the docks where the Gommage takes place, head right until you find a performance stage. The Mime is positioned in the corner just to the right of the stage.
Mime #2 Location – Spring Meadows

From the Grand Meadow Expedition Flag, take the left path and grapple across a cliff gap. You’ll find the Mime standing on a stone platform at the left side.
Mime #3 Location – Flying Waters

Starting at the Coral Cave Expedition Flag, advance until you pass through a narrow foggy passage. When near the kelp forest, turn right to discover a hidden path that ascends to a cliffside where the Mime awaits.
Mime #4 Location – Ancient Sanctuary

From the Sanctuary Maze Flag, go right and crawl through a small opening. After that, turn left to find an open area with a wooden structure. The Mime can be located on an elevated path in the back.
Mime #5 Location – Esquie’s Nest

Upon entering Esquie’s Nest, take a right turn and head down to the pond area where the Mime stands at the far back.
Mime #6 Location – Continent

Locate two Mimes facing each other in an area filled with red trees. To reach this spot, utilize Esquie’s swimming or flying ability to arrive at an island northwest of Old Lumiere.
Mime #7 Location – Frozen Hearts

From the Iced Heart Expedition Flag, ascend a sequence of train cars towards the main objective. Before reaching it, turn left to discover a Gestral Merchant and the Mime hidden behind a column.
Mime #8 Location – Yellow Harvest

Begin at the Harvester’s Hollow Expedition Flag and proceed to the right until you find a crawlspace leading into a mountain area. The Mime will be in an adjacent field.
Mime #9 Location – Sunless Cliffs

Start your journey at the Chroma Portal Expedition Flag and pass through the portal. You will need to select one party member to combat this Mime; make your choice wisely.
Mime #10 Location – The Reacher

Initiate your search from the Ladder Area Expedition Flag and move across the bridge until you spot a rope on the left leading downwards where the Mime will be located.
Mime #11 Location – Sirene

Follow the main path leading to a moving platform and through a tunnel into an underground space. After navigating some grapple points, the Mime will be found tucked away in the shadows. If you missed this during your main quest, return from the Sewing Atelier Expedition Flag and turn right.
Mime #12 Location – The Monolith

From the Tainted Cliffs Expedition Flag, follow the main route straight ahead, avoiding any paths that branch off right. Keep an eye out for a structure that looks like a fireplace, then look for a tight passage to the left with a rope leading down. This will lead to a vast room where the Mime waits amid Clair and Obscur enemies.
Mime #13 Location – Flying Manor

From the Central Plaza Flag, utilize the lift and then head left to descend via a rope. Move forward and to the right using another rope to discover the Mime.
Mime #14 Location – Faces

At the Joy Vale Expedition Flag, navigate to the left side and ascend a slope to engage with the Mime.
Mime #15 Location – Old Lumiere

Fast travel to the Right Street Flag and proceed until a nearby NPC appears. From that point, take a right turn and run past the enemies until you find wall anchors. Use these to ascend and defeat the Mime.
Mime #16 Location – Verso’s Drafts

Travel to the Candy Land Flag and ascend using the wall anchors on the left side to find the Mime.
Strategies for Defeating Mime Bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

While the Mimes may initially appear daunting compared to more trivial adversaries like the Petank enemies, they are surprisingly manageable once understood. They are predictable and have simplistic attack patterns.
Even with a successful First Strike, Mimes initiate their battles by “hammering”a protective barrier that generates multiple shields. To damage them effectively, utilize your Free Aim shots or Pictos that grant additional attacks per turn. Additionally, consider unlocking Maelle’s ‘Breaking Rules’ skill for swift shield removal.
Moreover, Mimes possess strong defense, which can prolong battles if not addressed. To penetrate their defenses, focus on filling the Mime’s Break Meter (the yellow gauge beneath its health bar) with effective attacks, as fire-based attacks that create Burn stacks are particularly impactful. Watch for visual cues, such as cracks appearing on the Mime’s body, indicating the Break Meter is filling.
In terms of offensive capabilities, each Mime has only two single-target attacks: a melee strike involving slaps and a headbutt, and a hammer smash delivering multiple hits. Their attack patterns are uncomplicated and can be evaded with careful positioning. It’s essential to note that certain encounters, like the one at The Monolith, may involve additional enemies, increasing the challenge level.

Once the Break Meter is full (indicated by flashing), utilize a skill designed to break an enemy. Successfully doing so will stun the Mime temporarily, significantly reducing its defenses for the duration of the battle. This is your cue to unleash your strongest attacks and deplete its health.
Defeating Mimes not only brings the satisfaction of overcoming a unique challenge but also unlocks treasured cosmetic items for your characters. Ensure you don’t overlook any encounters as you explore The Continent!
