It’s important to distinguish that there exists another version, termed “Windows 11 26H1, ” which is specifically designed for newly released Snapdragon X2 processors and potentially other ARM-based CPUs. Microsoft has explicitly indicated that this version is not intended as a feature update for 25H2.
In a blog post dated November 7, 2025, the company asserted, “26H1 is not a feature update for version 25H2 and only includes platform changes to support specific silicon. There is no action required from customers.”
Microsoft confirmed that version 25H2 will remain the main platform for new features, indicating that there are currently no plans to exceed one feature update each year. They confirmed this by detailing that they are testing “behind-the-scenes platform changes” for Windows Insiders, as per their official announcement.

This is the first documentation referring to “26H2, ” as previously, Microsoft only acknowledged “26H1” or “25H2.” Currently, the 26H2 references do not appear in Settings > System > About or via Winver in Windows Run, although this may evolve as newer builds become available.

Enhanced Taskbar Search Experience
