Beast of Reincarnation Differentiates from Soulslike: “Designed for Enjoyment Even for Non-Action Game Players”

Game Freak Unveils New Franchise: Beast of Reincarnation

During the recently held Xbox Developer Direct Show 2026, Japanese developer Game Freak offered an exciting first glimpse at their upcoming title, Beast of Reincarnation. As the gaming community analyzed the reveal, many observers pointed out notable resemblances to the Soulslike genre. However, Game Director Kota Furushima addressed these comparisons in an interview with Famitsu, highlighting several distinguishing features of the game.

Accessibility for All Players

Furushima emphasized a primary design objective: to make Beast of Reincarnation accessible to players who may not consider themselves adept at action titles. He stated, “We’re striving to ensure that even individuals who typically struggle with action games can find enjoyment in this experience.”He further added that players will have the flexibility to adjust the difficulty level, contrasting with the infamous rigidity seen in many Soulslike games.“If you’re unsure, I think it’s advisable to lower the difficulty for a more enjoyable gaming experience, ” Furushima remarked.

A Balanced Challenge

Despite the commitment to accessibility, Furushima assured players that challenges still await within Beast of Reincarnation. He clarified, “We’re not aiming to create a game where you must engage a boss hundreds of times, ” a hallmark of the Soulslike experience. Instead, he envisions moments of defeat serving as learning opportunities, encouraging players to experiment with diverse fighting styles and to adjust their character’s abilities.

Diverse Skill Trees for Customization

Moreover, the director revealed exciting gameplay mechanics: each protagonist, Emma the Sealer and Koo, is equipped with three distinct skill trees. This design allows players to explore various playstyles, including close-range melee combat, ranged attacks, and stealth tactics. Furushima’s ambition is to create a game where players can seamlessly transition through different strategies, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

Anticipation for Release

Beast of Reincarnation is scheduled for release in the Summer of 2026 across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X. As we approach the launch, further details are expected to emerge, keeping players engaged and informed.

Stay tuned for more updates as the release date draws nearer!
