Chaeyoung of TWICE Delays US Departure Due to Health Issues
Chaeyoung, a member of the popular K-pop group TWICE, has encountered a health setback that has postponed her trip to the United States. On March 26, Chaeyoung began experiencing significant lower back pain, leading to concerns about her ability to participate in the remaining leg of their ongoing “THIS IS FOR”world tour.
Medical Concerns and Agency Announcement
In a statement released by JYP Entertainment on Thursday, it was disclosed that Chaeyoung “suddenly felt an abnormality in her back”just before she was scheduled to fly with her bandmates. As a result, she was unable to board her flight and will remain in South Korea for urgent medical attention.
JYP Entertainment emphasized the necessity for a thorough medical examination. They confirmed that while Chaeyoung undergoes treatment, the other TWICE members will continue their travel to the United States, as reported by Allkpop.
Future Plans and Performances
The agency is optimistic about Chaeyoung’s return, stating that she aims to travel as soon as her health permits. Nevertheless, it has been noted that even if she rejoins the tour, “some of the performances may be limited, ”according to StarNews Korea.
This announcement arrives on the eve of TWICE’s performances slated for March 27 and 28 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. Speculation remains regarding Chaeyoung’s participation in these shows and the upcoming dates in cities such as Charlotte, Boston, and Chicago, among others, as detailed on Twice Tours.
Health Trends in TWICE
Chaeyoung’s current health challenge highlights growing concerns about the well-being of TWICE members. Earlier, fellow member Dahyun was also sidelined due to an ankle fracture, which was announced by JYP Entertainment on March 25. Dahyun had attempted to perform while seated but has been notably absent from shows since mid-February, as covered by The Korea Herald.
Chaeyoung’s Previous Health Setbacks
This isn’t the first time Chaeyoung has faced health issues during the tour. In November 2025, she was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, which required her to take a hiatus, causing her to miss several concert stops, including those in Kaohsiung and Hong Kong, according to Soompi. After a successful recovery, she returned for the North American leg of the tour beginning in January 2026, only to face yet another setback now.
