Stray Kids is making headlines once again as it secures its second consecutive nomination for the American Music Awards (AMAs), this time in the newly established Best Male K-Pop Artist category for the 2026 edition.
On April 14, the American Music Awards unveiled the complete list of nominees for this year’s ceremony, revealing that Stray Kids will vie for the Best Male K-Pop Artist honor during the live event scheduled for May 25 in Las Vegas.
This nomination sees the group competing against other prominent boy bands such as ATEEZ, BTS, ENHYPEN, and TXT. The increasing number of nominations for K-pop artists highlights the genre’s burgeoning influence on the U. S.music landscape, as reported by Allkpop.
Winners of the AMAs are determined by fan voting based on a range of metrics, including streaming numbers, sales, radio airplay, and tour performances. Voting for the 2026 AMAs is currently available on the awards show’s official website and Instagram until May 8.
Stray Kids: A Consistent Presence at the AMAs
This latest nomination marks Stray Kids’ remarkable second consecutive appearance on the AMA ballot, following their recognition in 2025 in the broader Favorite K-Pop Artist category.
The eight-member group has already made history at the AMAs by performing during the 50th anniversary special in 2024, making them only the second K-pop act ever to grace the stage at this prestigious U. S.awards show.
Korean media has noted that this new accolade solidifies Stray Kids’ status as a “global top artist, ”boasting a rapidly expanding international fanbase, according to a report by the Yonhap News Agency.
Stray Kids’ ascent at the AMAs mirrors their impressive performance on the U. S.charts. Their 2022 mini album, ODDINARY, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, paving the way for a series of successful releases, including more recent projects like SKZ IT TAPE: DO IT.
Reports indicate that Stray Kids has achieved an unprecedented streak of eight consecutive No.1 entries on the Billboard 200, a milestone within the chart’s 70-year history, further enhancing their profile in the global music market.
