Spotify has established itself as a go-to platform for music and podcasts, but it also indulges users with a whimsical feature: a hidden Snake game. This nostalgia-laden game offers a delightful twist for those looking to unwind. Interested in diving into this playful feature? Here’s how you can access it.
Unlocking the Spotify Snake Game
Having primarily enjoyed Spotify on my Android device with a Premium membership, I recently expanded my use to the iPhone with a free account. This exploration led me to the discovery of the secret Snake game. Unfortunately, it appears that Android users cannot access this mini-game, irrespective of subscription type, nor is it available on desktop or web apps.
To launch the game, having at least one playlist is essential. The more extensive your playlist, the better your gaming experience will be. Begin by navigating to the Your Library section of the Spotify app and tapping on Playlists at the upper end of the screen.

Select an existing playlist or create a new one by tapping the + icon in the upper-right corner. Choose Playlist and curate your music selection.

On your playlist’s page, press the +Add button to augment your song selection. It’s recommended to include a variety of tracks from different artists, as this diversity enhances gameplay.

Once you’ve filled your playlist with songs, tap on the three-dot icon situated beneath the album artwork.

In the pop-up menu, swipe up to find and select the Eat this playlist option. Keep in mind, the songs should be of a standard length—ambient tracks may not qualify.

Playing the Snake Game on Spotify
Once activated, Spotify will initiate the hidden Snake game, reminiscent of the classic version many of us enjoyed on vintage Nokia phones. This mini-game masterfully evokes nostalgia.
The gameplay mechanics remain true to the original: guide a snake toward its next meal, which in this case is represented by an album cover box, using swipe gestures up/down or left/right. Each collision with a box prolongs the snake’s length, ramping up the difficulty.

While sticking to the classic gameplay, Spotify adds a musical flair. Each album cover serves as the next target; when the snake consumes a box, the playlist automatically advances, playing the following track and unveiling a new cover on the board. The snake builds its length from the album covers collected, hence why an eclectic playlist can make the game visually and audibly engaging.
With every new box consumed, the game background shifts colors, inspired by the album art of the current track. If you find yourself enamored with a song during gameplay, simply tap the + button in the upper left corner to add it to your Liked Songs playlist.

Is Your Snake Score Recorded by Spotify?
At the conclusion of each round, Spotify displays your score and tracks your highest score, presenting it prominently every time your game ends.

Regrettably, Spotify does not maintain an all-time leaderboard, which means you can’t compare your scores with other players. Additionally, your score is not logged on your profile.
Exploring Other Games on Spotify
If you’re on an Android device, there’s some good news even if you can’t access the Snake game. Spotify has collaborated with Netflix to offer another engaging minigame inspired by the Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament.

To start playing this game, simply follow this link on your mobile device.
Once launched, players can tilt their phones to swing, immersing themselves in the fun.
