It’s been over two years since rumors surfaced about Ubisoft developing this remake. Initially reported by Kotaku, it was suggested that Ubisoft Singapore, the same studio responsible for Skull and Bones, was likely involved in the project.

Adding credibility to the speculation, actor Matt Ryan, famous for portraying Edward Kenway, hinted at the remake during a fan signing event, going so far as to mention that Ubisoft had warned him to remain silent about it to avoid legal action.

In September, insights from French outlet Jeux Vidéo Magazine revealed more concrete details about the remake. According to their report, Ubisoft plans to eliminate the less engaging modern-day segments from the original, enhancing the experience by adding more quests and content focusing on Edward Kenway. Additionally, transitioning between land and ship will reportedly be seamless, elevating gameplay fluidity.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson mentioned in November that Ubisoft aims for a March 2026 release, strategically timed just before the end of the fiscal year. The anticipation grew when PEGI, the European game rating board, listed a new title: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

However, concerns arose when this title was included in a group of projects delayed as part of Ubisoft’s significant restructuring efforts, which included the cancellation of another eagerly awaited remake, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Despite these setbacks, shinobi602’s information suggests that the Black Flag remake is safe and should be launching soon.
