Recently, Lenovo’s executives have provided insights into the status of the PC supply chain, emphasizing the critical need for both channel partners and consumers to secure hardware without delay.
High “Pricing Sensitivity”Amid AI Expansion: Lenovo’s VP Highlights Advantageous Current Prices
The gaming landscape for 2026 appears challenging, primarily due to widespread shortages across various component categories. Consumers currently face uncertainty regarding potential changes in the PC market landscape and the likelihood of ongoing price hikes. Amid these concerns, Ryan McCurdy, Lenovo’s President for North America, has underscored the urgency of hardware upgrades.
“If the infrastructure is critical in the next three, six, 12 months, and the pricing sensitivity is high, then we get into a scenario where we’re acting quickly because essentially the current stock that is at our distributors and at our partners [has] some of the most attractive product pricing that will exist for the next six to 12 months.”

A recent CRN report referenced an anonymous US system integrator who lamented the unprecedented rate at which hardware availability is dwindling. This individual asserted that, in the long term, ensuring hardware availability will surpass pricing concerns. For consumers considering hardware purchases, the current climate—marked by transformational shifts in the PC industry, particularly driven by NVIDIA’s CEO’s remarks on an expansive “infrastructure buildout”—may represent an opportune moment.

As highlighted in previous analyses, the price hikes and shortage challenges surrounding CPUs, GPUs, DRAM, NAND, and related products are significant. The caution from a major player like Lenovo hints that the current downturn in the PC industry may persist for several more quarters. Notably, it is anticipated that DRAM shortages will not begin to alleviate until at least 2027, with similar forecasts for NAND availability.
The escalating prices of PC components leave gamers at a crossroads, as they must weigh their available resources against the potential advantages of making a purchase or upgrading their systems now.
