Grunt Hunt is a repeatable side quest that players can initiate by accessing wanted posters located next to The Ghoul in Highway Town. To locate him, enter the Last Resort bar and look for a quiet area where he resides, ready to assign Grunt Hunts to willing players.

You can find your way to Highway Town by crossing the bridge at Point Pleasant; however, it’s advisable to complete the Welcoming Committee quest before heading over. Once you have initiated a Grunt Hunt, you’ll receive a map marker directing you to your target’s location. Your primary objective will be to locate and eliminate your target within a strict 10-minute timeframe. These targets come with a twist—each possesses unique mutations and is typically guarded by multiple NPCs.

As you engage in Grunt Hunts, you’ll notice an increase in the difficulty of your targets. After completing approximately 50 missions, you’ll begin to encounter formidable 3-star targets, making it crucial to equip yourself with the best gear available to avoid being overwhelmed.

Bounty Hunting serves as a public event variant of Grunt Hunts. In this format, bounty targets are visible to all players on the server, encouraging collaboration among players to take down these challenges. Expect Bounty Hunting targets to be more difficult than those encountered in Grunt Hunts, coupled with the presence of multiple adversaries.

To kick off a Bounty Hunt, players must follow specific steps, as it’s not as simple as claiming a bounty from the Grunt Hunt. You’ll need to either:

  • Purchase a wanted poster from The Ghoul for 5000 Caps
  • Acquire wanted posters by completing Grunt Hunts

These wanted posters may drop as rewards upon completing Grunt Hunts. Once you have secured a wanted poster, head to the bounty board located outside the Last Resort to pin it. This action activates the bounty hunt mission at a designated location within Burning Springs.

From this point, the process resembles that of Grunt Hunts closely. Upon reaching the area marked on your map, you’ll need to fire a flare from a nearby mortar to commence the battle. Players are given 5 minutes to locate the target and 20 minutes to defeat them. Bear in mind that only one Bounty Hunt can be active per server, although you may initiate another one immediately after concluding a hunt.
