ChoA from Crayon Pop Hospitalized During High-Risk Twin Pregnancy
Former member of the popular K-pop group Crayon Pop, ChoA, has been hospitalized due to contractions and unexpected bleeding while expecting identical twins. This development has prompted medical professionals to classify her pregnancy as high-risk.
On February 15, ChoA, whose birth name is Heo Min Jin, took to social media to inform her followers of her hospitalization late in her pregnancy. In her statement, she reassured her fans that both twins are currently stable and that the medical team has successfully managed her contractions and bleeding, although she will remain in the hospital for further observation.
At 33 weeks of gestation, ChoA is expected to give birth in March, as reported by allkpop. She has affectionately named her twins “Heart”and “Cute, ”and she conceived them through in vitro fertilization following fertility-preserving surgery related to a previous cancer diagnosis.
Medical Protocol for High-Risk Twin Pregnancies
The healthcare team has scheduled a Caesarean section for early March, a common procedure for twin pregnancies that are deemed high-risk. Medical professionals have noted that pregnancies involving twins tend to require enhanced monitoring, particularly when there is a history of cervical cancer and associated treatments.
Past surgical interventions can make such pregnancies riskier, as they are often prone to complications like premature labor and cervical issues. In ChoA’s case, her doctors emphasized that reaching 28 weeks would be a significant milestone, given the implications of her prior treatment on her uterus.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, pregnancies resulting from in vitro fertilization, particularly those involving twins, face increased scrutiny regarding various factors such as cervical length, amniotic fluid levels, and developmental discrepancies, all to mitigate the risk of premature delivery.
Personal Journey and Public Support
Throughout her pregnancy, ChoA has been open about her experiences, including coping with severe morning sickness during the first trimester and rapid weight gain later on, which are common challenges faced during twin pregnancies.
Her husband, a businessman who is six years her senior and married her in 2021, has been a constant presence during her hospital visits. He has expressed gratitude to the medical team for their diligent care in managing her high-risk pregnancy.
ChoA has kept her followers updated on her journey via social media, even sharing a maternity photoshoot shortly before her hospitalization. This post garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists, many of whom have expressed their concern over her health and are sending heartfelt wishes for a safe delivery for both her and her twins, as highlighted by Wow Korea.
