BIGHIT Music Addresses BTS Comeback Concert Rumors

BIGHIT Music has officially commented on circulating rumors regarding a potential free BTS comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. The agency emphasized that discussions are still in progress and no decisions have been finalized as of now.

In a concise statement issued to Korean media on January 19, BIGHIT Music confirmed that they are “currently discussing”arrangements for the group’s much-anticipated first performance post-military service. An official announcement will follow once details such as venue and schedule are confirmed. This announcement comes amidst various reports suggesting that BTS might host a large-scale, free concert at this iconic location in late March, marking their eagerly awaited return as a full group.

Furthermore, reports indicate that HYBE, the parent company of BTS, has submitted requests to the Korea Heritage Service and other relevant authorities. They are seeking permission to utilize several historic sites—including Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Gwanghwamun Woldae area, and Sungnyemun Gate—for a unique performance that marries traditional culture with K-pop.

Officials are scheduled to review this request during a Cultural Heritage Committee meeting set to take place on January 20 at 2 p.m. KST, as reported by Koreaboo.

Local media outlets have characterized the event as a free outdoor concert in conjunction with BTS’s comeback, estimating an audience of 15, 000 to 20, 000 fans, selected via advance registration rather than general admission.

However, BIGHIT Music has yet to confirm whether the concert will indeed be free, the specific format it will take, or if Gwanghwamun Square will ultimately be the chosen venue. As reported by Times Now News, these details remain uncertain.

Upcoming Album and World Tour

The speculation regarding the concert accompanies BTS’s preparations for their forthcoming fifth full-length album, titled ARIRANG, which is slated for release on March 20, 2026. This album is expected to feature 14 tracks and is being promoted as a reflection of the members’ personal experiences during their hiatus and their return to group activities.

Following the album launch, BTS is set to embark on their most extensive world tour yet, beginning on April 9 at the Goyang Sports Complex in South Korea. This tour is anticipated to encompass 79 shows across 34 cities on five continents, and many venues will feature a 360-degree stage setup.

In an exciting first for the group, BTS is expected to perform in several major U. S.stadiums, including locations in Foxborough, Arlington, and Baltimore. This tour also includes previously announced dates across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, as detailed by CNN.

Until a formal announcement is made by BIGHIT Music and the relevant authorities finalizes their review of venue permits, the rumors surrounding the free concert at Gwanghwamun Square remain unconfirmed.
