Google Chrome Autofill Enhancements: What You Need to Know
Google has unveiled significant improvements to the Autofill feature in its Chrome browser. When users are logged into their Google accounts, Chrome can now conveniently fill in personal information across various online forms.
New Autofill Features for Enhanced User Experience
Recently, Google introduced a new option in Chrome that supports autofilling crucial information such as passport numbers, driver’s license details, and vehicle identifiers like license plate numbers and VINs. These advancements are part of the browser’s enhanced autofill experience aimed at simplifying online interactions.

Building on this, the company is expanding these capabilities. In addition to securing your name and email address during account sign-ups and log-ins, Chrome can now autofill home and work addresses saved in your Google account. This rollout applies to Chrome users on desktop as well as mobile platforms such as Android and iOS.

Integration with Google Wallet for Seamless Travel
Moreover, Google Wallet is now integrated within Chrome, allowing users to autofill loyalty card numbers and travel-related information efficiently. For instance, anyone renting a car can quickly supply their flight confirmation number and other relevant details using Google Wallet, streamlining the process of filling out forms related to travel and booking services.

These autofill capabilities in Google Wallet are also available on both desktop and Android devices. Users can manage their vehicle details through Chrome on desktop, but these features will only function when enhanced autofill is activated in the browser settings.
Google Flights Now Available in More Regions
In related news, Google Flights has expanded its availability to more countries, enhancing the overall travel experience for users globally. Additionally, on Android devices, Chrome now displays two lines of autofill suggestions for improved choice, allowing users to select the desired option quickly.
The browser has also improved its ability to recognize and fill address fields accurately across various regions worldwide, further simplifying the autofill process.

Activating Enhanced Autofill
It’s important to note that Enhanced Autofill is disabled by default. To enable this feature, follow these steps: Access Chrome’s settings, click on Autofill, or use this link in a new tab: chrome://settings/autofill. Choose Enhanced Autofill, toggle it on, then click the add button to save information such as driving license numbers, known traveler numbers, and more for future autofill needs.
According to a support page from Google, when you complete a form online, the website’s URL and associated content may be shared with Google, enabling enhanced autofill suggestions while improving the overall service.
It’s worth mentioning that many password managers offer similar autofill functionalities without necessitating the sharing of site data.
