In Borderlands 4, players can immerse themselves in the quest for collectibles, enriching their gameplay while unlocking unique insights into the game’s lore. Among these collectibles are Echo Logs, Evocariums, and Dead Bolts, the latter being remnants of characters who had their Bolts installed by the enigmatic Timekeeper. Each Dead Bolt grants players intriguing narratives, often linked to the final moments or significant interactions of the deceased characters.
This guide focuses on uncovering all the Dead Bolts located within The Fadefields region of Borderlands 4. There are a total of ten Dead Bolts waiting to be discovered. Below, we’ll detail the locations within various areas, starting with the Coastal Bonescape.
Coastal Bonescape
Fishin’ Spot Dead Bolt Location
The first Dead Bolt can be spotted in the Coastal Bonescape, the initial area travelers will explore after completing the game’s tutorial. Head towards the Fishin’ Spot, a prominent lake situated in the northern part of this zone.
Upon arriving at the lake, make your way to the center island. Here, a small boat will await you, alongside a deceased NPC on the shore, with the Dead Bolt situated nearby.
Sandytoes Villa Dead Bolt Location
Next, venture to Sandytoes Villa, another spot within Coastal Bonescape. This area is positioned on the far western shore, not far from Stillshore, where the Vault Key Fragment resides, and Sarrett’s Jetty, home to a Survival Cache.
Once you arrive at Sandytoes Villa, locate the Dead Bolt resting on the dock behind a house, completing your search in this picturesque locale.
The Howl
The Kit Hole Dead Bolt Location
In the segment known as The Howl, two Dead Bolts lie in wait for eager collectors. The first can be found northwest of the Kit Hole Order Silo. Make your way there, and then head northwest into the surrounding woods.
Look for a large nesting area filled with Kratch. Amongst the nests, you will discover a Dead Bolt resting atop one of them.
West of Shut-Eye Keep Dead Bolt Location
The second Dead Bolt in The Howl is located near Shut-Eye Keep. If this location is unlocked, teleport to the safehouse and proceed westward, following the road to the northwest.
After a short trek, veer left and continue southwest until you arrive at a lake. At the lakeside, you’ll find a small camp where the next Dead Bolt awaits, alongside another fallen NPC.
Hungering Plain
Hill Overlooking Horace’s Oversight Dead Bolt Location
In the Hungering Plain region, the first Dead Bolt is situated centrally to the southeast of Horace’s Oversight. You’ll notice a hill marked on the map, which is notably traversed by a rail line.
Approach this hill to find a flipped car buried in the dirt, where you will also find an NPC accompanying the Dead Bolt.
Ripper Camp Dead Bolt Location
The second Dead Bolt in the Hungering Plain is located on the northern edge near Dominion, within a small camp. As you arrive at this position, look for an A-frame house adjacent to a cage.
Search around this area to find the Dead Bolt nestled next to the cage.
Idolator’s Noose
Tetanus Quad Dead Bolt Location
Within the Idolator’s Noose segment, there are three Dead Bolts to collect. The first is found in Tetanus Quad, located just south of the Someday Rise safehouse.
Arriving at Tetanus Quad, direct your attention towards the large grinder situated in the center, where the Dead Bolt can be located right in front of it.
Rosemary’s Reserve Dead Bolt Location
The second Dead Bolt is located in the northern part of Rosemary’s Reserve in Idolator’s Noose, an area where you can also discover a Vault Key Fragment useful for combating Primordial Guardian Inceptus.
While exploring Rosemary’s Reserve, head toward the northern end by the body of water. Here, you will find a dock where the Dead Bolt floats alongside a drowned NPC.
Mirehome Dead Bolt Location
Finally, in Mirehome, search for the house centrally located in the area. You will find a gravestone with the Dead Bolt placed on top, marking your final discovery in this lush part of The Fadefields.
Dissected Plateau
The Killing Floors Dead Bolt Location
The last Dead Bolt in The Fadefields resides within the Dissected Plateau region. Once you arrive, head south toward the Killing Floors building.
Rather than entering the building, circle around to its northeastern side and proceed to the body of water located at the back. Nearby, you will find a small landmass with a Red Chest; the final Dead Bolt is situated next to this chest.
