ASUS Unveils Enhanced DDR5 Memory in New X870 NEO Motherboards with NitroPath DRAM Technology
ASUS has made a significant announcement regarding its latest X870 NEO motherboard series by incorporating its state-of-the-art DDR5 memory enhancing technology, known as NitroPath DRAM. This innovation was revealed during CES 2026 and is poised to elevate the performance of their newest motherboards.
The new range includes several advanced models from the X870 and B850 series, featuring improved I/O configurations, optimized voltage regulator module (VRM) setups, and fresh design elements. ASUS is eager to make these boards available for retail consumers shortly, marking a broader adoption of its NitroPath DRAM technology across more mainstream offerings.
Previously, NitroPath was exclusive to high-end motherboards such as the X870E and Z890 series. Now, however, ASUS is extending this technology to a wider audience. The following motherboards are confirmed to incorporate NitroPath support:
- ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial
- ROG Crosshair X870E DARK HERO
- ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming WIFI7 NEO
- ROG STRIX X870E-A Gaming WIFI7 NEO
- TUF Gaming X870-PRO WIFI7 W NEO

Among these, the TUF Gaming X870-PRO NEO stands out, as it harnesses NitroPath DRAM tech for impressive DDR5 memory enhancements. This technology features reduced gold finger pin length and optimized signaling pathways, resulting in quicker data transmission between the DRAM and CPU. This advancement not only improves overall stability but also expands overclocking potential, leading to an enhanced experience for gamers and power users alike.
With NitroPath technology, compatible motherboards can achieve DDR5 memory speeds that surpass earlier benchmarks by as much as 400 MT/s, with some configurations reaching even higher performance levels. Additionally, all motherboards equipped with this feature benefit from reinforced slots that increase retention force by up to 57%, ensuring a robust connection and minimizing the risk of hardware issues.
It’s exciting to see such innovative features becoming more accessible to a broader range of users, allowing them to enjoy enhanced computing power for gaming, content creation, and more.
