“Are you afraid to lose in a rematch” – Kwon Won Il calls out bantamweight MMA king Fabricio Andrade in scathing Instagram post

Kwon Won Il, a former challenger for the ONE bantamweight world title, sparked renewed controversy with current MMA champion Fabricio Andrade through a harsh Instagram post published this week.

In 2022, the Korean slugger suffered a crushing defeat to Fabricio Andrade in the first round of their world title fight at ONE 158: Tawanchai vs. Larsen. However, he has since bounced back with three consecutive finishes, determined to earn a rematch with the bantamweight champion, ‘Pretty Boy’.

This week on Instagram, Kwon Won Il further expressed his aversion towards the champion by publicly calling him out in the following manner:

“Hey fabricio andrade are you scared? Are you afraid to lose in a rematch? I see you enjoying your vacation and training. Accept the fight and let’s give the fans what they want to see! One of us will go to sleep and it will be YOU!”

If a rematch is truly in store for Kwon, it will provide him with the perfect chance to display his incredible stopping ability. In their initial bout, Andrade simply didn’t allow him the room to make any significant moves, ultimately finishing him off with a well-placed body kick to the liver.

Despite experiencing a setback, Andrade’s recent victories over Mark Abelardo, Artem Belakh, and Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg have potentially opened up the possibility for Kwon to have a second chance at the bantamweight title.

“Fabricio Andrade Acknowledges Kwon Won Il’s Impressive Grappling Progress since TKO World Title Defeat”

Fabricio Andrade previously acknowledged that Kwon Won Il could potentially be a changed fighter if they were to face each other once more in the near future.

Prior to their encounter in 2022, Kwon was known for his ability to knock out opponents. This could be attributed to his background in Taekwondo as a black belt, which made him proficient in his style of combat. However, his grappling abilities were not as strong as his striking.

Before facing off against Jonathan Haggerty for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title in the previous year, Andrade acknowledged Kwon Won Il for identifying and improving upon his weaknesses in this aspect of his game.

If there is a rematch, ‘Wonder Boy’ acknowledges that Kwon will show a different side of himself as a fighter.

During an interview with SCMP MMA, Andrade expressed:

“I think every time when you lose, you kinda like, see more things he could have improved. So, I see the he improved a lot on his grappling, especially like his last fight, he was able to take the Mongolian down, ground and pound him. Against Artem as well.”
