Apple’s Presto Machine Will Update Your New iPhone Without Unboxing

Apple is planning to launch a new device called Presto, which will enable retail store workers to update iPhones inside the box without removing them. This means that when you purchase a new iPhone that has been in the box for some time, the 15 minutes or so that you have to wait for it to update before using it will no longer be a challenge.

The French publication iGeneration has reported on a new machine that store employees can use to update 6 iPhones at once without having to unbox them. These machines resemble toasters and can be stacked on top of each other.

MagSafe and wireless technologies are likely utilized, along with possible involvement of NFC, to power on the iPhones inside the box, install software updates, and turn off the devices. Additionally, there have been reports that Presto is linked to designated Apple servers, granting it access to software updates 24 hours before their official release.

However, the technologies in use are currently just speculations. Apple is expected to provide more clarity on these technologies once the device is more widely available, which users are eagerly anticipating.

Currently, Presto is being tested in select US stores and is also being introduced in other countries such as France. Apple has announced that they are aiming for a widespread release in April.

It is likely that after April, obtaining a new iPhone will no longer require waiting in the store to upgrade to the newest version. However, this release may not be particularly thrilling for end users.

Many users do not stay in the store to update their iPhones. They either return home, where they can access their reliable Wi-Fi, or they opt to have their phones delivered to their homes from the start.

If you’re someone who gets easily frustrated by the 15-20 minutes it takes to update a new iPhone, then Apple has finally come up with a solution for you.
