All new Minecraft 1.21 enchantments explained

The recently introduced mace weapon in Minecraft has quickly become a beloved feature among the community in the 1.21 update. This new weapon type, the first since the introduction of crossbows, offers a unique and exciting way to engage in combat. By converting fall damage into strike damage, players can now experience a fresh and challenging PvP experience that requires a great deal of skill. Furthermore, the damage output is impressive, with each block fallen beyond the first dealing an additional 1.5 hearts of damage.

In addition, 1.21 will introduce three additional and exclusive mace enchantments to Minecraft, which will further enhance the already powerful base mace. This will allow players to easily defeat any boss without any assistance. The details of these enchantments are explained below.

Although the mace has continuously undergone modifications since its initial release in experimental, its strength has only been improved. However, the weapon’s original falling damage of 2.5 hearts per block has been reduced to 1.5 hearts.

Despite the slight decrease in base damage, the density mace enchantment more than compensates for it. With each level of the enchantment, the damage dealt per block fallen increases. At Density V, the enchantment reaches its maximum potential of adding an extra 2.5 hearts of damage per block, making up for the initial damage nerf.

Density is still the most frequently used new enchantment, and it can be obtained through a Minecraft enchanting table or as enchanted books from loot and trades with villagers.

Data Breach

The mace’s potential for destruction can be further heightened with its second newly added enchantment, Breach. This enhancement decreases the target’s armor effectiveness by 15% for each level. As it reaches its maximum level of IV, the overall limit for armor reduction is 60%.

While this effect may not be as helpful in survival mode due to the rarity of armored mobs, it can make a significant impact on any of Minecraft’s top PVP servers.

Fortunately, obtaining breach is still possible through enchanting, as well as through enchanted books, loot found in structures, and trading with powerful Minecraft villagers, although it is slightly less common than density.

Tempest Gale

Wind burst is considered to be the most elusive and challenging to obtain among the beginner enchantments, most likely with valid justification. This enhancement adds a pogo or spring-like element to mace smash attacks, causing opponents to rebound into the air, allowing for subsequent attacks. This cycle can persist as long as the player is able to strike their targets accurately.

The enchantment consists of three levels, each of which enhances the player’s bounceback height. This has elevated the already high skill ceiling for maces, allowing skilled gamers to string together their smash attacks.

Obtaining Wind Burst, the most challenging 1.21 enchantment, is made difficult by the fact that players must take on ominous vaults. These vaults are rare versions with superior loot, located within the more challenging trial chambers of Minecraft that can only be accessed through the bad omen status effect.
