A Guide to Restoring MP in Metaphor ReFantazio

In the early stages of *Metaphor ReFantazio*, players will soon realize the significance of MP (magic points) in gameplay. Similar to ATLUS’ popular JRPG titles like *Persona 5*, MP serves as the crucial resource that allows access to various magic capabilities and spells, which can be pivotal during battles. However, it’s important to remember that MP is a finite resource.

Consequently, not only is it essential to manage and preserve MP effectively, but understanding how to replenish it is vital for enduring combat. Given that *Metaphor ReFantazio* is arguably one of the most formidable ATLUS games to date, mastering MP recovery can make all the difference.

While the game provides several avenues for MP restoration, it’s notable that there is no way to completely replenish MP without some cost, unlike other JRPGs, such as *Pokemon* which offer free MP recovery options at Pokemon Centers or the vending machines found in *Yakuza: Like A Dragon*.

The primary way to restore MP in *Metaphor ReFantazio* is by utilizing consumable items. Here’s a list of useful items:

  • Magla Pill: Restores 20 MP to a single ally.
  • Fruit Cordial: Restores 30 MP to a single ally.
  • Magla Potion: Restores 50 MP to a single ally.

These consumables can be utilized during combat, costing a turn, or accessed from the menu outside of battle. They can be obtained through exploration or purchased from shops, but they tend to be scarce and relatively high-priced, particularly in the beginning, making it wise to use them sparingly.

The game includes a Rest Area where players can save their progress, yet it surprisingly does not restore HP or MP. Players may exit a dungeon to completely refill their MP, though this approach is not practical for completing dungeons in one session. An easier alternative is to leverage Archetypes.

With over 40 Archetypes available, the Mage Archetype becomes accessible early in the game. By leveling it up, players will acquire the passive skill “Magic Recovery,”which allows MP to regenerate each time an enemy in the overworld is stunned or defeated. By carefully managing MP during encounters, players can effectively use this skill to maintain their magic points.

As the narrative progresses, further opportunities for enhancing MP recovery in *Metaphor ReFantazio* arise, including new passive skills for Archetypes such as the Masked Dancer, alongside equipable items like the Crescent Moon, both of which provide a moderate MP recovery each turn in battles.

*Metaphor ReFantazio* is available on platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
