If you have been an active Reddit user, your account may contain a wealth of browsing and search history along with your comments and posts. If you wish to manage or erase that information, this guide will walk you through the steps necessary to view and delete your history on Reddit.
How to Clear Your Reddit History on a PC
To access your browsing history, you must be logged into your Reddit account. If you’re simply viewing Reddit anonymously, there’s no need to worry about data accumulation.
Managing Browsing History
To revisit posts or threads that caught your interest, you can check your recent activity. Start by opening Reddit in your web browser and navigate to the right side of the screen to locate the Recent Posts section.

If you want to remove specific posts from this section, simply click the Clear button located in the upper-right corner.

The Recent Posts box typically displays up to ten posts. For a comprehensive view of your activity, click on your avatar in the top-right corner, then select Your Profile.

From your profile page, click on the History tab at the top to explore all your activities. Note that while Reddit’s PC interface may struggle to load older history, accessing it via mobile offers a smoother experience.
You cannot delete viewed posts outright from this section. However, you can click the three-dot menu on any post and choose Hide to remove it from your view.

For a complete deletion of your browsing history, click your avatar and select Settings from the menu.

Navigate to the Privacy tab and scroll to the bottom.

Under the Advanced section, find the option to Clear History and click the Clear button to erase your history permanently.

Managing Search History
To review your search history, simply click into the Search bar at the top of the Reddit page. This will reveal all the recent search keywords you’ve used. You will also see a list of Trending topics tailored to your interests beneath your search queries.

To delete unwanted search terms, click the X next to each keyword. For details on your comments and posts, access your profile and navigate to the Comments or Posts tabs to view your engagement history.

While bulk deletion of comments and posts isn’t supported natively, you can delete each item individually by selecting the three dots under a comment and choosing Delete. This action effectively removes your comment from view.

In addition to comments, you can also visit the Saved section to manage saved posts. Tap on the three dots of a saved post and choose Remove from Saved to eliminate it from your history.

For managing votes, you may consider removing posts from your Upvoted or Downvoted sections by simply tapping the corresponding arrows to retract your vote.
Alternatively, you can choose to hide the comments and posts shown on your profile. Access your settings by clicking your avatar, and in the Curate Your Profile section, select Show All next to Content and Activity.

Finally, switch the setting to Hide All.

However, it’s crucial to note that moderators of the communities you engage with and other users can still view your complete profile, including your activity.
Bulk Deletion of Comments and Posts
If you’re looking to delete multiple posts and comments at once, this can be achieved by using third-party tools such as Shreddit or Redact. Be aware that these are paid tools, which may not be suitable for every user.
Another option is PowerDeleteSuite available on GitHub, though it may present a challenge for less tech-savvy users. Alternatively, the Redditor Reborn extension for Chrome could offer a user-friendly approach.

After installing the extension and logging into your Reddit account, it will automatically connect. You can then use the extension to choose Delete All Comments, Delete All Posts, or both. You also have the flexibility to define a custom time range to delete content within that specified period.
How to Clear Your Reddit History on Mobile
If you use Reddit primarily on your mobile device, you can also view and manage your history there without any hassle.
Browsing History on Mobile
Launch the Reddit app on your mobile device. Tap your avatar, which is located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

On your profile page, access the menu by tapping the hamburger icon in the upper-right corner and select History.

This will display your browsing history on this device. Notably, this history remains local, meaning any browsing conducted on other devices will not be reflected here.
You can clear your recent history on Android by tapping the three dots at the top and selecting Clear Recent History.

You can also hide specific posts by tapping the three dots on the post and selecting Hide. This option is also accessible for iPhone users.

On iOS devices, access your history by tapping your avatar in the upper right corner, where the History option can be found.

Managing Search History on Mobile
Retrieving your search history on mobile is quite similar to the desktop experience. Tap the Search bar at the top to view your recent queries. You can delete specific queries by tapping the X next to each item, similar to how it’s done on the desktop.

On mobile, trending topics appear below your recent searches for easy browsing.
To view your comments and posts history, navigate back to your profile and switch to the Posts or Comments sections to review your interaction history.

As with the PC version, you can only delete comments and posts individually on mobile. Although Redact offers a mobile app, it may not function properly for all users. Shreddit remains a good alternative if you don’t mind the associated costs.
To delete a comment, select it and you’ll be taken to the post page. Tap on the three dots next to Reply and choose Delete to remove it.

Additionally, you can manage your history visibility directly from your profile. For Android, tap the hamburger menu and select Profile Curation. For iPhone, access this from your avatar and select Curate Your Profile.

From there, navigate to Content and Activity and choose Hide All to limit the visibility of your interactions.
