ZEROBASEONE Set to Release ‘Only One Story’ Theme Song for the Pokémon Horizons Rayquaza Rising Arc

On September 27, 2024, ZEROBASEONE officially announced the upcoming release of their new opening theme song, Only One Story, for the latest chapter of the TV anime Pokémon Horizons, specifically the Rayquaza Rising arc. The group shared that this latest track has been chosen to serve as the new opening theme for the anime.

As detailed on their official website, Only One Story marks ZEROBASEONE’s first original Japanese track in about seven months. The song is characterized as a refreshing and uplifting melody aimed at inspiring listeners who are embarking on their adventures, encapsulating the message of ‘Everything Will be alright.’ Notably, this is ZEROBASEONE’s inaugural collaboration with the Pokémon franchise.

ZEROBASEONE’s Only One Story Complements the Pokémon Anime’s New Journey

According to the official details, Only One Story aligns closely with the narrative of Pokémon’s latest chapter, Rayquaza Rising, where the main characters, Liko and Roy, venture into a new journey. The song is designed to resonate with Liko and Roy’s compelling story and their determination to progress alongside friends and Pokémon.

In addition, ZEROBASEONE shared their excitement about their collaboration with the Pokémon anime. They revealed that Pokémon has been one of their cherished animes since childhood, and they dreamt of performing an opening theme song for it. The members expressed their joy at being given this opportunity.

The nine-member group elaborated on the catchy chorus of Only One Story through their website and remarked:

“The chorus of Only One Story is incredibly catchy, and I believe it’s a melody you’ll find stuck in your head after just one listen. Notably, the final line of the chorus features the memorable lyrics, ‘No matter how many times I cry, you’ll be okay,’ so make sure to listen closely. It’s a fun track that everyone can sing and dance along with, so enjoy it alongside the anime!”

For those unfamiliar, ZEROBASEONE is a nine-member K-pop group comprising Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Seok Matthew, Sung Han-bin, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Park Gun-wook, Kim Gyu-vin, and Han Yu-jin. The group was formed through Mnet’s survival reality program Boys Planet and is currently managed by the agency WakeOne.

ZEROBASEONE made their official debut on July 10, 2023, with their extended play (EP) Youth in the Shade, which contains six tracks, including Back to Zerobase, In Bloom, New Kidz on the Block, And I, Our Season, and Always (a solo by Zhang Hao). They released their fourth EP, Cinema Paradise, on August 26, 2024, featuring seven songs, with Good So Bad as the leading single.

Only One Story is set for digital release on October 11, 2024, and Pokémon Horizons airs every Friday at 6:55 pm local time on TV Tokyo.
