Im Siwan Shares Behind-the-Scenes Anecdote from Squid Game 2

ZE:A’s Im Siwan is basking in the accolades for his compelling performance as Player 333 in the much-anticipated Squid Game 2. Recently, he opened up about a memorable experience on set with co-star Choi Seunghyun, popularly known as T.O.P from BIGBANG.

Character Background and Interactions

In this gripping series, Im Siwan takes on the role of Myung Gi, a once-celebrated YouTuber entangled in a cryptocurrency scam who finds himself forced to participate in a deadly game. His path crosses dramatically with T.O.P’s character, Thanos, a retired rapper also victimized by the very scam that has upended their lives.

Action Scene Preparation and Challenges

During a recent interview with Star News on January 9, Im Siwan revealed insights from their intense fight scene. Both actors trained at an action school to enhance their synchronicity, but when the cameras rolled, the physicality of the scene took them by surprise.

Im recounted the dedication they both had towards achieving a true-to-life portrayal of the fight scene, which, unfortunately, resulted in T.O.P. suffering a broken rib. “We were so caught up in the moment that we literally felt ourselves flying a bit too high,” Im said, acknowledging the risks they took in pursuit of realism.

Respect for T.O.P’s Professionalism

The pain of a rib fracture is notoriously sharp, as Im highlighted, and yet T.O.P. displayed an admirable commitment to the project by continuing to film despite his injury. “I know firsthand how debilitating rib pain can be—it makes breathing a challenge,” Im reflected, emphasizing how they should have halted filming under those conditions.
