Yuqi’s Corgi Tattoo: A Symbol of Affection and Growth
Yuqi, a member of the popular girl group (G)I-DLE, is easily recognized by her charming Corgi tattoo located on the back of her right shoulder. Initially, fans known as Neverlands believed that this ink was merely temporary. However, since its unveiling in 2020, Yuqi has proudly showcased the design, later adding a delightful array of paw prints to enhance its charm.
A Personal Connection
During an interview with Cosmopolitan Korea, Yuqi shared her motivations behind the tattoo, affectionately named “Ggigi.”She expressed her love for Welsh Corgis, stating, “I want to adopt one day. I just thought it was really cute so I tattooed Ggigi (tattoo’s name) onto me.”
Deep Reflections on Relationships
In a recent segment on Pixid, the “TOMBOY”hitmaker discussed her tattoo further when co-member Soyeon inquired about its deeper meaning. Yuqi revealed, “This is a sad story, though. I got it after breaking up with my boyfriend.”When Soyeon appeared taken aback, an ad break was called; however, Yuqi quickly clarified her statement.
She humorously stated, “I just said it to be funny. Yes, that wasn’t true.”Despite the lighthearted tone, the tattoo represents more than just a whimsical design; it encapsulates Yuqi’s journey towards self-acceptance.
Symbol of Strength
Yuqi reflected on her feelings during that period, explaining, “They have really short legs, right? Other dogs have long legs, so they can go far with one step. But I was like the Welsh Corgi at the time.”She elaborated, “I had to take one step at a time with my short legs and work really hard. It was when I was lacking self-esteem.”
This candid admission highlights how personal experiences can shape the meanings behind tattoos, transforming them into symbols of resilience and emotional growth.
