YouTube Music Introduces ‘Speed Dial’ Feature, Replacing ‘Listen Again’ Tab

More than a year back, YouTube Music revealed plans to experiment with a revamped interface that would substitute the ‘Listen again’ feature with a brand-new “Speed dial”section. This change was gradually rolled out to select users, and now, after a considerable waiting period, the YouTube Music Speed dial is becoming available on a wider range of devices.

The newly introduced Speed dial section enables users to effortlessly access their most-played songs and artists directly from the “Home”tab. To utilize it, users simply need to launch the YouTube Music app, tap on “Home,”and they’ll discover their frequently listened-to tracks and artists showcased there.

As reported by 9to5Google, this feature is expanding its reach to a larger audience. With the implementation of the Speed dial section, the app is retiring the “Listen again”feature, streamlining access to recently favored music. The new user interface presents a visually appealing design, offering space for nine tracks or playlists in a compact format that resembles the previous layout.

In contrast to the previous design that utilized a 10×2 carousel displaying only six tracks at a time, the updated layout features a 3×3 grid displayed across three pages, signified by navigation dots at the bottom. This enhancement allows users to view a total of 27 songs, albums, artists, or playlists simultaneously. Tracks currently playing are now highlighted by a white border surrounding their artwork.

Additionally, another upgrade is on the horizon for the YouTube Music app. The overflow menu now opens in a floating window with rounded corners, a shift from the former full-width display. There are also several minor adjustments, including the removal of the rainbow effect around casting targets as part of this latest update.

If you haven’t seen the updates yet, ensure you have installed the most recent version of the YouTube Music app on your Android device. Moreover, YouTube is currently testing a feature that would let users upload custom images for playlists, although this capability isn’t widely available to all users yet.
