Young Dro and K-Dubb Feud Explained: T.I. Addresses Tensions on Podcast While Rappers Share Insights on Past Addictions
On October 14, 2024, Young Dro and T.I. made headlines during their engaging interview on The Breakfast Club, which heated up when the two nearly had a confrontation.
During the discussion, Young Dro candidly shared his struggles with drug addiction, but a member of T.I.’s crew, K-Dubb, could be heard laughing at an inappropriate moment.
Young Dro recounted his decision to seek rehabilitation in Los Angeles, emphasizing a pivotal moment when he acknowledged:
“These events unfolded: the overdose, my daughter facing drug issues, and my career not aligning with my aspirations.”
He further elaborated on the transformation he experienced post-rehab, revealing:
“It was a smooth transition. After returning, I still felt the pull towards my past lifestyle. Yet, I recognized the importance of what lay ahead and thought, ‘This is far more valuable than what I’ve left behind.’”
When Young Dro overheard K-Dubb laughing, he confronted him, saying:
“Hey, you’re playing with fire. We’re cool, but I could easily go off on you about that… Just being real.”
K-Dubb didn’t back down, retorting that he wouldn’t be slapped, which prompted Dro to ask:
“What do you want to do about it?”
As tension mounted, T.I. stepped in to diffuse the situation, stating:
“Hey, listen! Everyone who came in with me, remember that. Let’s stay focused on what we’re doing here. Let’s get this straightened out.”
The discussion proceeded uninterrupted, and by the end, Young Dro extended an apology to T.I., acknowledging that he “should have controlled his emotions better.”
Young Dro’s Past Struggles with Addiction
Known as D’Juan Montrel Hart, Young Dro has spoken about his addiction on multiple occasions. In a June appearance on the Baller Alert Show, he shared that his manager, Dr. Sierra, a mental health professional, played a significant role in helping him achieve sobriety, encouraging him to distance himself from negative influences.
In January of last year, during a conversation on VladTV, he shared his journey to sobriety, stating he had been “100 percent clean”for nearly two years. He added:
“My mindset evolved. It’s an ongoing challenge to maintain this lifestyle while still being part of the Hip Hop scene, where parties are abundant. I frequent clubs and concerts where my peers indulge in smoking and drinking.”
Dro also discussed the impact of addiction within his family, noting issues his father faced and that his mother had lost five siblings to similar struggles.
In 2022, he spoke on the Big Facts podcast, revealing that his own addiction began when a friend introduced him to drugs. He expressed concern over his daughter’s drug use and shared that his attempts to enter rehab with her were unsuccessful. He noted that his music remained unchanged post-sobriety, mentioning:
“Recording sessions are far more productive now. My partner doesn’t worry about craziness anymore, like getting calls saying, ‘Dro is flipping out in the studio, smoking and bringing a wild crowd.’ It’s definitely a relief.”
At 44 years old, Young Dro has released six albums throughout his career and gained fame with hit singles such as “Shoulder Lean”and “FDB.”
