“You never know what’s going to happen” – Multi-time kickboxing world champion Marat Grigorian open to MMA move

While kickboxing remains his main focus, Marat Grigorian, the second-ranked contender in ONE’s featherweight division, also values keeping his training options open.

The highly-skilled striker has discussed the possibility of taking a break from kickboxing to explore other opportunities.

Despite Muay Thai being the most obvious choice for him, Grigorian mentioned in a recent interview that he has some limited experience with MMA training.

Despite being a world-class kickboxer, Marat Grigorian would face a challenging learning process in order to improve his overall skills. However, his strong work ethic leaves no doubt that he is capable of achieving this goal if he is determined to do so.

Despite admitting that kickboxing is more motivating for him, he told Sportsmanor in an interview that training still holds value and one should never rule it out completely.

“Yes, we train a little bit of mixed martial arts, MMA, but my focus is only kickboxing, it’s more fun for me. I don’t like MMA, but yeah, you never know what’s going to happen.”

Current Priorities for Marat Grigorian

As he previously stated, Marat Grigorian remains dedicated to pursuing his kickboxing goals at the moment, despite previously expressing interest in trying Muay Thai.

Currently, the top priorities for him are winning a world championship with the ONE banner and seeking revenge for some of his previous defeats. He has the opportunity to make significant progress in both of these goals this Friday at ONE Friday Fights 58.

Once again, his past encounters with Superbon will culminate in the main event, where they will compete for the interim featherweight kickboxing title.

On April 5, only a single man will have the assurance that they will face divisional champion Chingiz Allazov again in the future, as they exit the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The 58th edition of Friday Fights will be broadcasted live on global pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com during Asia’s primetime.
