You Might Have to Pay to Use Google Search in the Near Future

Despite being the go-to search engine for many people since the early days of the internet, Google’s search engine has always been known for its exceptional quality and power. However, recent reports suggest that the company may be considering a shift in its business model, with plans to introduce premium, AI-powered features that will only be available for a fee.

Google may introduce paid options for AI-enhanced search

The report discusses the potential addition of advanced AI-powered search features to Google’s current subscription services, such as Gemini Advanced and Google One. Sources familiar with the company’s plans have indicated that a premium tier of Search will include ads, while the traditional version will remain free for all users.

It is a common practice in the industry to charge a premium for top-tier services, and there is nothing inherently wrong with it. Therefore, if Google Search were to introduce a price for premium AI-powered features in the future, it would not pose a problem for anyone.

In light of Google’s significant investments in AI, we currently have access to numerous AI-powered features. But one feature that I am eagerly anticipating is AI-powered search. While there is no specific timeline for its release, it is mentioned in a recent report that the company is currently developing this technology. There is a possibility that we may get a preview of this technology at the upcoming I/O 2024 conference next month.

Will you be willing to pay for Google Search with AI enhancements, or will you stick with the free version? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
