Former K-pop idol Yoo Dongho has made headlines with the revelation of his relationship with Zilong, a Taiwanese-Canadian who is 24 years old and 16 years his junior. This announcement came through a newly created couple’s Instagram account and a YouTube channel, showcasing their love and shared experiences.

At 40 years old, the former Apeace member introduced their joint account “Dong Ho Zi Long”with a sweet post of the couple kissing, accompanied by a teaser message, “coming soon.”The bio of this account also includes a link to their YouTube channel, which features various videos documenting their time together.

Zilong, born in 2001, appears to be a passionate baker associated with a local bakery. One standout moment captured on their YouTube channel showcases Zilong journeying to unveil his feelings for Dongho, highlighting the tenderness of their relationship.

Official Public Launch

Since launching their YouTube channel in December 2025, the couple has taken the opportunity to share their relationship with the world. Notably, prior to this public debut, neither Dongho nor Zilong offered clues about their romance on their personal Instagram accounts, making this the definitive public announcement of their relationship.

Apeace: A Journey Through Music

Yoo Dongho rose to fame in 2010 as a member of Apeace, once a prominent boy group under Golden Goose Entertainment comprising 21 members. As part of the Jade sub-unit, Dongho served as the senior member, contributing to the group’s vibrant activities until his departure alongside five other members in June 2014. Sadly, Apeace disbanded in 2021.

K-Pop and LGBTQ+ Representation

Historically, K-pop has faced criticism for limited LGBTQ+ visibility, largely due to South Korea’s conservative views on homosexuality. However, a growing number of artists have been brave enough to share their truth. Notably, Holland, recognized as the first openly gay K-pop idol, stepped into the spotlight in 2018 with his single “Neverland, ”which boldly included a same-sex kiss in the music video.

In a landmark moment, Bain, a member of the K-pop group Just B, made headlines in April 2025 by publicly coming out during a concert in Los Angeles, proudly declaring, “I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community.”His sincerity resonated, and it was followed by a heartfelt performance of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way, ”complete with a rainbow flag. Bain later spoke about his decision, emphasizing the pain of hiding his true self and the overwhelming support he received from his bandmates.
