“YG Repeats the Same Strategy” — Fans Amused as YG Entertainment Announces BLACKPINK’s 2025 Comeback and World Tour

On September 24, 2024, YG Entertainment officially announced BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated group comeback and world tour schedule for 2025. As reported by South Korean news outlet Ten Asia, YG Entertainment celebrated the milestone of “How You Like That,”which has reached an impressive 1.7 billion views on YouTube since its release in 2020.

In their announcement, they stated:

“BLACKPINK plans to meet fans with a full group comeback and world tour in 2025.”

However, many fans expressed skepticism about this news. Notably, YG Entertainment had previously indicated a group comeback album and world tour for 2025 back in July 2024, leading to mixed emotions among fans regarding the recent confirmation.

“YG is using the same strategy every time he wants to grab media and fan attention…”one fan commented on X.

Others echoed similar sentiments, questioning if the members of BLACKPINK themselves were even aware of the upcoming comeback.

“Does BLACKPINK even know about this?”one fan wrote.

“WE NEED A FULL ALBUM WITH 20 SONGS IN IT!”another fan added.

“I’ll believe it when YG drops the comeback teaser,”one fan asserted.

Many fans mentioned they would only place trust in the announcement once YG Entertainment officially releases the tour dates.

“How many times are they going to announce this?”another fan questioned.

“I adore the girls, but I’ll be excited when it actually happens because I don’t think this pattern of long release gaps is sustainable. Is it so hard to do a comeback once a year?”another fan noted.

“A world tour already??! I won’t believe it until I see the tour dates,”another fan exclaimed.

BLACKPINK Members Establish Individual Companies Following Contract Termination

In December 2023, YG Entertainment revealed that all four BLACKPINK members had ended their individual contracts with the company, although they renewed their collective group contract. Jennie founded her own company, ODDATELIER (OA), on December 24, 2023, while Lisa launched her label, LLOUD, on February 7, 2024.

Additionally, Jisoo unveiled her company, BLISSOO, on February 17, 2024. Meanwhile, in June 2024, Rosé signed with The Black Label, a hip-hop subsidiary of YG Entertainment led by BLACKPINK’s producer, Teddy.

In May 2024, Lisa also established a partnership deal between her label and RCA Records. She released her comeback singles, “ROCKSTAR”and “NEW WOMAN”(feat. Rosalía) on June 28 and August 15, respectively.

Jennie made her runway debut at the Jacquemas show in July 2024 in Capri. On September 9, ODDATELIER signed a deal with Columbia Records, and Jennie is set to release her first solo album through the label.

Meanwhile, Jisoo’s solo endeavors are managed by her company, BLISSOO, and she has been engaged with various acting projects. Reports indicate that she completed filming the Korean film, “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,”in May 2024 and also wrapped up her K-drama, “Influenza,”in July 2024, which is slated for a late 2024 release.

In related news, Jennie’s debut solo album is anticipated to be released in October 2024, while Lisa has yet to announce her album’s release date. Rosé, on the other hand, is reportedly working on her own solo music.
